Xbox Game Pass' newest addition for August 9 is Limbo, a game many folks are likely familiar with. Limbo made waves when it was released back in 2010, back when Xbox Live Arcade was practically in its heyday. It ended up being the third-highest-selling game on the platform, amassed tons of revenue, won several awards, and has often been praised as one of the best games of 2010, if not of all time.
It seems safe to say that Limbo put developer Playdead on the map, as the studio and its titles often come up when discussing video games as an art form. Its second title, Inside, wouldn't release for six years after, and it explored many of the same themes. Now, Playdead is working on its third game (published by Epic Games), and it'll be interesting to see if the upcoming title makes waves.
Either way, Xbox Game Pass subscribers will be able to check out Limbo starting today, August 9. For the uninitiated, Limbo is a side-scroller that focuses heavily on its physics system and environmental interactions of the main character, an unnamed boy who is searching for his sister. Gruesome death is everywhere, as the game's puzzles are difficult to solve, but they are used to push the game's greater themes. Everything from its black and white tones down to its minimal sound goes a long way in its presentation. Combined with its horror elements, definitive aesthetic, and otherwise engaging gameplay, it's clear why Limbo is so loved by many.

It is rated as a Must-Play on both platforms, with the Xbox 360 version actually seeing a total of 88 positive reviews.
