The latest in an ever-increasing line of excellent video game adaptations, Amazon's Fallout show has made quite a splash over the last few weeks. As well as earning some high praise from critics, Fallout has been a pretty big hit among most fans of the post-apocalyptic franchise, managing to strike a perfect balance between humor and drama to successfully capture the series' more irreverent spirit. And it's not just franchise fans who are checking the show out, with Fallout's first episode being watched by over 1.5 million people in just its first five days.

Presumably, there are a lot of new fans included in that number, and they have a lot of catching up to do. Thankfully, Xbox Game Pass is here, and it's home to almost the entire Fallout video game franchise, meaning that new Fallout fans need to pay just one fee to check out everything the series has ever had to offer.

Xbox Game Pass Is Home to The Fallout Franchise

Every Fallout Game Available on Xbox Game Pass

  • Fallout 3
  • Fallout New Vegas
  • Fallout 4
  • Fallout 76

Bethesda's entire tenure with the Fallout franchise is currently available on Xbox Game Pass, and can all be played on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and even via Xbox Cloud streaming. For any new fans of the Fallout franchise looking for somewhere to start after finishing the acclaimed Amazon show, there's no better place than Xbox Game Pass, though choosing a starting title is no easy task, with the "right" answer changing wildly depending on which fans are being asked.

First released in 2008, Fallout 3 was Bethesda's first Fallout game, and it's the outing that popularized the series for the modern age of gaming. A classic Bethesda open-world RPG through and through, Fallout 3 may feel a bit dated now in terms of graphics and combat gameplay, but its world is still engrossing, its story is still intriguing. Since it was originally intended as a jumping-on point for newcomers, it's a great place for new Fallout fans to start.

However, some fans will point newcomers in the direction of Fallout New Vegas instead. Developed by Obsidian and released just two years after Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas is widely considered by many fans to be the best Fallout game ever made, boasting some incredible writing, world design, and characters. Though its gameplay is fairly similar to Fallout 3, New Vegas stands apart for all these reasons, and though new players are thrust into the world quite quickly, that might actually be a positive for those who have already been introduced to the universe via the Fallout show.

Some fans might also suggest that newcomers start with Fallout 4. The newest of the single-player entries, Fallout 4 is a gigantic game that features some much-needed gameplay improvements from its prior entries, making it the best-feeling Fallout game to play. Though not many fans will recommend it as a starter Fallout video game experience, Fallout 76 is still a solid option for those looking to take to the wastelands with some friends, with the game having received plenty of content updates since launch.

The Original Fallout Games are on PC Game Pass

For those with a PC, Game Pass has even more Fallout content to check out. As well as having Fallout 3, New Vegas, 4, and 76, PC Game Pass also has Fallout 1, 2, and Tactics. Released in 1997, 1998, and 2001 respectively, these classic Fallout games probably aren't the best jumping-on points for new fans due to their dated UI and gameplay elements and their harsh difficulty, but they do offer a comprehensive history of the entire franchise, and it's nice to have the vast majority of Fallout games in one spot.
