Summary
- Xbox Game Pass has added Far Cry 4, expanding game options for Standard tier subscribers.
- The service offers various tiers - Core, Standard, PC, and Ultimate - each with unique benefits.
- Recent additions like Far Cry New Dawn and upcoming games like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 enhance the gaming experience.
Xbox Game Pass has added Far Cry 4 to the lineup of titles available to subscribers of all tiers. In the past month, many of the games introduced to Microsoft’s subscription service have been day-one releases that were therefore only accessible to members of the PC and Ultimate tiers. But gamers paying for the Standard tier of Xbox Game Pass also have some great titles to look forward to in the coming month.
The gaming subscription service is divided into four levels: Core, Standard, PC, and Ultimate, with the former two only available on console. Core, at the lowest price, gives subscribers access to a curated catalog of 25 titles that are regularly swapped out for new ones so the selection doesn’t get stale. The Standard tier is most like the original Xbox Game Pass, providing a library of hundreds of console games, though not when they’re first released. Both Core and Standard offer special deals and discounts on games from the Xbox Store.
Xbox Game Pass is Absolutely on Fire Right Now
The Xbox Game Pass subscription service is currently on a ridiculous hot streak, especially the Ultimate tier.
Game Pass Standard, PC, and Ultimate subscribers can now jump back into the world of Kyrat, the setting of Far Cry 4, which is ruled over by the tyrannical Pagan Min. Originally released in 2014, the fourth mainline entry in the long-lived and celebrated Far Cry series is considered by many gamers to be one of the best. With a charismatic protagonist in Ajay Ghale and a bad guy modeled partly after Ichi the Killer, Far Cry 4 offers a first-person action-adventure experience that is immersive, challenging, and just fun, to put it simply.

Though an analyst recently stated that subscription models will not be the future of gaming, Xbox Game Pass has certainly been on a roll in recent weeks, with a steady stream of hits and highly anticipated titles being added to the service. These have included day-one releases like The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, but there have been goodies for regular subscribers as well. Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls, Grand Theft Auto 5, SpongeBob SquarePants: The Patrick Star Game, and Crime Scene Cleaner are some of the titles added to the Standard tier in April, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Dredge are coming up in May.
Additionally, fans of the Ubisoft series might not be aware that Far Cry New Dawn was also added to Game Pass in February, and Far Cry 5 and 6 were already available. And both the PS5 and Xbox Series versions of Far Cry 4 recently got updates that enable 60 FPS support, so the award-winning experience on the two platforms is now even better.
