Xbox Game Pass is losing Core Keeper and two other titles later today, October 15. Despite the departures, October 2025 is shaping up to be a major net gain for the service, with Xbox Game Pass arrivals from the first half of the month outnumbering removals approximately 18 to 1.

While it's common to see Microsoft's subscription catalog add more titles than it removes over the course of a month, the October 2025 ratio was heavily skewed by an unusual event: Xbox Game Pass Ultimate unexpectedly adding 48 games. This October 1 surprise batch, largely drawn from the Ubisoft+ Classics library, marked the single largest expansion in the service’s eight-year history. It coincided with a $10 price increase, as Microsoft leveraged Ubisoft’s vast back catalog to offset the impact of the 50% hike.

Xbox Game Pass Losing Core Keeper Later Today

In the first wave of removals since that major expansion, Xbox Game Pass is now set to lose three titles: Core Keeper, Cocoon, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants Unleashed. The trio will be leaving the service later today, October 15, most likely at midnight local time. Core Keeper—which has been on Xbox Game Pass since late August 2024—is the standout title from the forthcoming wave of departures, boasting nearly 21,000 "Very Positive" Steam reviews and over 3 million in estimated sales on Valve's storefront alone.

Geometric Interactive's puzzle platformer Cocoon is the only member of this soon-to-be-departing trio that can realistically be beaten in a single day, with crowdsourced data indicating that a single playthrough of the 2023 game takes 5.5 hours on average. As is tradition, Xbox Game Pass members are currently able to buy Cocoon, TMNT: Mutants Unleashed, and Core Keeper at up to 20% off. The courtesy subscriber discount is expected to be available for as long as the titles remain in the XGP catalog.

Based on Microsoft’s usual cadence, the next round of Xbox Game Pass departures will likely take place on October 31. End-of-month removals are generally revealed alongside the second-wave lineup, which tends to be announced on the third Tuesday of each month. However, it’s unclear whether that schedule will hold this time, as the reveal of the Wave 1 Xbox Game Pass lineup for October 2025 was uncharacteristically long. It extended all the way to The Outer Worlds 2, slated to arrive on October 29, which would normally be part of a Wave 2 roster announcement.
