Xbox Game Pass Ultimate has added another day-one title, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, to its ever-growing content catalog. This is the 16th game to reach the subscription service in July 2025, as well as the 94th new Xbox Game Pass release since the beginning of the year.
Developed by Chinese studio Lenzee Games, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is a soulslike RPG set in 17th-century China, which would be the final years of the Ming dynasty. The titular Wuchang is an amnesiac pirate grappling with the Feathering Disease, a deadly illness that drives its victims mad. First announced in September 2021, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers was confirmed as a day-one Xbox Game Pass title during the June 2024 Xbox Games Showcase. It locked down a release date at the end of April 2025.
Rumor: New Xbox Game Pass Tiers Possibly Leaked
More Xbox Game Pass tiers may be in the works, according to some newly leaked evidence coming directly from Microsoft's servers.
As originally announced, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers made its way to Xbox Game Pass on July 24. The U.S. East Coast has even been able to play it since 10pm local time on July 23. XGP subscribers can download Wuchang locally on either the Xbox Series X/S or PC. Alternatively, although it's not available on the Xbox One, the ARPG can technically be experienced on Microsoft's last-generation console via the Xbox Cloud Gaming streaming service.

The initial wave of Wuchang: Fallen Feathers reviews is generally positive, though not overwhelmingly so. The ARPG holds a "Strong" rating on OpenCritic, with an average score of 75 and a 70% reviewer recommendation rate. This places Wuchang: Fallen Feathers in the 63rd percentile of all games scored on the aggregator platform. Critics praised the game's fast-paced combat and weapon-switching fluidity, as well as its Madness system, which was characterized as a unique twist on the soulslike concept of death. Instead of losing all experience upon dying, Wuchang loses only an amount proportional to her Madness rating. Madness also increases both damage dealt and received. When the meter is maxed out and the protagonist dies, an evil doppelgänger tries to prevent her from reclaiming lost resources.
On the other hand, some reviewers criticized the game for feeling too derivative and failing to meaningfully develop the ailing hero and amnesiac tropes it leans into. While soulslikes are typically known for their difficulty, Wuchang was widely described as inconsistent in that regard, featuring fights that feel both too easy and overly hard relative to the rest of the game. Regardless, game difficulty is inherently subjective, so individual experiences with Wuchang will likely vary.
When Will Wuchang: Fallen Feathers Come to Xbox Game Pass Standard?
Being a day-one release, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is not available on Xbox Game Pass Standard as of now. Historical precedent suggests that Lenzee's latest title will most likely be added to the Standard-tier library between January and July 2026. In the meantime, one final day-one release is set to reach Xbox Game Pass this July, with the early access version of Grounded 2 being scheduled to materialize on the 29th.
