Developed by Illinois-based studio Galla, Kulebra and the Souls of Limbo is a stylized adventure game with papercraft-like visuals, puzzle-solving, and plenty of intrigue. Players take control of the titular Kulebra, the spirit of a kind-hearted snake, just as he wakes up in limbo. Guided by some cryptic words of a mysterious old lady, Kulebra sets out to find his purpose in the afterlife.

Gameplay-wise, Kulebra and the Souls of Limbo offers a combination of exploration, puzzle-solving, and chatting up quirky characters coming from all walks of life. Many denizens of limbo have problems that the undead protagonist is able to solve by being observant and inquisitive, and the reward for helping them is coming one step—or slither—closer to figuring out the meaning of life, a goal as compelling as any character could hope for. Between the existential undertones, mystery-solving, and the afterlife setting, Kulebra and the Souls of Limbo has many makings of a game that could appeal to fans of LucasArts' iconic Grim Fandango.

When Will Kulebra and the Souls of Limbo Come to Xbox Game Pass Standard?

Day-one titles on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate typically take at least six months to arrive on the Standard tier afterward. Microsoft has said some of these expanded releases could be delayed by a year or more, though there's still not much precedent to go by, seeing how XGP Standard is only eight months old as of today. That said, based on the limited history so far, Kulebra and the Souls of Limbo could join the Standard-tier library sometime between November 2025 and May 2026.

In terms of the more immediate future, four more titles are confirmed to be coming to Xbox Game Pass in May 2025. The first of those will arrive on the 20th, when Police Simulator: Patrol Officers and Firefighting Simulator: The Squad are scheduled to drop. To A T is then slated to launch eight days later, followed by Spray Paint Simulator on May 29. Both To A T and Spray Paint Simulator are part of this month's Wave 2 lineup, which Microsoft has yet to officially announce. Historical precedent suggests the full Xbox Game Pass roster for the second half of May will be revealed on the 20th.
