Xbox Game Pass has arguably just had one of its best months ever. An eye-watering total of 13 games were added to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate in April 2025, including huge new day-one releases like South of Midnight, Oblivion Remastered, and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, as well as sleeper indie hits like Blue Prince, and even some returning third-party favorites like Grand Theft Auto 5.
It's going to take a lot for Xbox Game Pass to outdo itself in May, but it's already laid some very strong foundations. Xbox Game Pass' May 2025 line-up already includes Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Dredge, Revenge of the Savage Planet, To a T, and Doom: The Dark Ages. That's more than enough for Game Pass subscribers to sink their teeth into, but there's always room for more.

The long-awaited sequel to the 2022 compilation, Capcom Fighting Collection 2 is set to release on May 16, 2025, and it'd be a great addition to Xbox Game Pass. Capcom Fighting Collection 2 brings together eight Capcom-developed arcade classics, including two much-loved Capcom vs. SNK titles. Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper and the crossover fighter Capcom Fighting Evolution are also included in the collection, along with more obscure titles like Plasma Sword: Nightmare of Bilstein, Power Stone 1 and 2, and Project Justice.

A game that needs absolutely no introduction, Elden Ring has firmly cemented itself as one of the best action-RPGs of the modern generation, featuring a gigantic open-world, well over 100 boss fights, a plethora of weapons and armor sets, and FromSoftware's trademark high-quality combat. Ever since its release in 2022, Elden Ring has been one of the most requested titles for Xbox Game Pass, and May 2025 might be the perfect time to fulfill those requests.
On May 30, Elden Ring Nightreign is set to launch on consoles and PC. A three-player co-op game with roguelike elements, Elden Ring Nightreign is offering fans a brand new take on the acclaimed Elden Ring formula. But before Nightreign releases, it might be a good idea to put the original Elden Ring on Xbox Game Pass to give new players a taste of what they can expect from Nightreign.

Xbox Game Pass Wish List for May 2025: World of Warcraft

Back in January of this year, a select few Xbox Game Pass subscribers received an email that claimed Blizzard's 21-year-old fantasy MMO, World of Warcraft, was heading to the service. Microsoft was quick to correct the newsletter, stating that there were no current plans to bring World of Warcraft to Game Pass or to Xbox consoles, but the brief incident revealed just how many fans long to see the MMO on the service.

Every year, thousands of excellent, innovative indie games release, and Animal Well was one of last year's most critically acclaimed. Developed by just one developer (Billy Basso) over the course of seven years, Animal Well is a sort of psychedelic Metroidvania that sees players exploring a non-linear labyrinth. Animal Well received a lot of love last year, but Game Pass could give it a whole new wave of fans.
