Summary

  • Xbox Game Pass confirmed five more games for October 2024.
  • Two of them, MLB The Show 24 and Open Roads, are Game Pass Standard releases that have already been available on higher tiers of the service since March 2024.
  • The remaining three are Sifu, Mad Streets, and Inscryption.

Sifu and four other titles will be coming to Xbox Game Pass in October 2024, Microsoft has revealed. The newly confirmed arrivals are all scheduled to reach Xbox Game Pass during the first third of the month.

Up until recently, most new additions to Microsoft's subscription service were straightforward, as everyone would get access to everything. The exceptions were mostly reserved for games that weren't available on all XGP-supported platforms. But following the recent Xbox Game Pass tier revamp, day-one releases are only available to users paying for PC Game Pass or Ultimate-tier memberships.

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Confirms 3 More Games for October 2024

So, although Microsoft today technically announced five more Xbox Game Pass releases for October 2024, only three of them are going to be brand-new additions to the service. That group consists of martial arts brawler Sifu, party game Mad Streets, and deck-building roguelike Inscryption. Meanwhile, the first wave of October 2024 XGP releases also includes baseball sim MLB The Show 24 and narrative-driven adventure Open Roads, both of which will be added to the Game Pass Standard library on October 2. These titles originally reached Xbox Game Pass back in March 2024, but were then pulled from its console library after Microsoft revamped its subscription tiers on account of being day-one releases.

Subscribers who kept their Game Pass for Console memberships since then have been grandfathered into their old plans, so they were still able to keep playing MLB The Show 24 and Open Roads following the tier revamp. But everyone who started paying for the Standard subscription afterward will only get a chance to play these games from October 2.

While Open Roads and MLB The Show 24 were added to the basic tier of the service fairly quickly, there are no guarantees that will be the case with every similar title. Microsoft, for its part, previously said that day-one Xbox Game Pass titles could take at least six months to reach the Standard tier of the service, noting that all releases will be handled on a case-by-case basis.

These newly confirmed arrivals will soon be joined by Black Ops 6. The next Call of Duty entry is scheduled to reach Xbox Game Pass on October 25, debuting as a day-one release exclusive to the Ultimate and PC tiers of Microsoft's service. The second wave of this month's Xbox Game Pass additions is expected to be announced in mid-October 2024.
