Obsidian Entertainment’s The Outer Worlds 2 has joined the lineup of titles available to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers. The highly anticipated sequel launched on October 29 and became available for Xbox Game Pass members of the highest tier to enjoy from day one.
Reviews have been trickling in for the sequel to 2019’s The Outer Worlds, and critics are overall filled with praise, calling it a “superior sequel” that surpasses its predecessor in many ways. On OpenCritic, the newly released game by Obsidian has an 83 average critic rating, with reviews applauding everything from its RPG mechanics to its engaging characters, sense of adventure, and beautiful settings. Not that fans of the first game needed to read reviews of The Outer Worlds 2 before diving in, but the feedback thus far is encouraging.
Xbox Game Pass Adds The Outer Worlds 2
Despite a recent price hike to Xbox Game Pass, Microsoft continues to be an enticing value proposition for many gamers, with one key factor being the titles that are added to the service on day one. The Outer Worlds 2 now joins that lineup of titles for Game Pass Ultimate subscribers, though Standard tier members may have to wait a year or more before they get access to the RPG adventure that many are dubbing “Fallout in space.”
Coming to Xbox Game Pass in October and November 2025

The Outer Worlds 2 is not just more of the same with prettier graphics. It still takes place in an alternate history in which society is ruled by hyper-capitalistic megacorporations, but this time players will visit an entirely new colony called Arcadia. The space-faring RPG also introduces new weapons, new enemies, and a new crew to oversee, as well as first-person shooting mechanics developed with the assistance of Halo Studios. Players will also finally be able to have a pet in The Outer Worlds 2.
The Outer Worlds 2 is the last game announced to be coming to Microsoft's subscription service in October, but there are plenty of titles to look forward to in the coming month. November for Xbox Game Pass will kick off with two day-one releases on November 4: Football Manager 26 and 1000xResist, an indie narrative-based adventure game set in a post-apocalyptic future where aliens have killed off most of humanity. Whiskerwood, a city builder about mice overcoming their feline overlords, launches on November 6. And of course, mid-month will see the day-one launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7.
