Hades is now available on Xbox Game Pass. The award-winning ARPG is the eighth new title to make its way to the subscription service in September 2025, as well as the 116th new Xbox Game Pass release since the beginning of the year.
Developed by San Francisco-based Supergiant Games, Hades is an action RPG that casts players as Zagreus, the son of the Greek god of the underworld whom the game itself was named after. Zagreus's goal is to escape from the underworld, which is easier said than done, and will require many attempts. The gameplay loop was designed to complement this narrative hook, as Hades is a roguelike with procedural level generation and meta progression that makes each subsequent run a bit easier. It even features non-linear story progression that actively reassembles a massive amount of authored dialogue and events based on what the player accomplished on their latest run.

Hades Returns to Xbox Game Pass After 3 Years
Supergiant's critically acclaimed title was added to Xbox Game Pass on September 19. This arrival marks the beginning of its second stint on the service; Hades was originally added to Xbox Game Pass in August 2021 and left after a year and two weeks. Assuming Supergiant and Microsoft reached a similar licensing agreement this time around, the roguelike ARPG could end up being offered to Xbox Game Pass subscribers until late September 2026.
As of today, Hades holds a "Mighty" rating on OpenCritic, with an average score of 94 and a near-flawless 99% reviewer recommendation rate. Over on Steam, it boasts over 132,000 "Overwhelmingly Positive" user reviews. It has also received multiple Game of the Year awards, including the GOTY accolade at the 24th Annual D.I.C.E. Awards. No matter the metric, Hades is widely regarded as one of the best roguelikes ever made. Its addition to Microsoft's subscription service should hence significantly bolster the platform's genre lineup.
Xbox Game Pass Has 5 More Confirmed Titles for September 2025
Five more titles are coming to Xbox Game Pass before the end of September 2025. These include Endless Legend 2, Sworn, Peppa Pig: World Adventures, Visions of Mana, and Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light—in that order.

Xbox Game Pass is also confirmed to be losing four titles at the tail end of September 2025. The departures consist of Terra Invicta and three Ninja Gaiden games—Sigma, Sigma 2, and NG3 Razor's Edge. Additional announcements may follow on September 25, when Microsoft holds its Xbox Tokyo Game Show 2025 broadcast. In 2024, the company used the event to shadow-drop several titles on Xbox Game Pass.
