Summary
- Towerborne is now on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, offering subscribers diverse game library access.
- The Xbox Game Pass lineup in March and April included exciting titles like Atomfall and The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered.
Stoic Studio’s well-received action RPG Towerborne is now available on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Microsoft’s subscription service offers members access to a rotating library of games, both first and third party. For those willing or able to toss in a few extra bucks, the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate tier offers a good value proposition, giving subscribers an EA Play membership, hundreds of games to enjoy via cloud gaming, and of course, many new titles that are available on launch day.
March and April have already been exciting months for Ultimate subscribers, with one winner after another launching on the service. March ended with Rebellion’s post-apocalyptic alternate history action game Atomfall and, in April, Ultimate members got South of Midnight, Commandos: Origins, the shadow drop of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered, and Sandfall Interactive’s groundbreaking RPG Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, to name a few.
Towerborne on April 29 and Far Cry 4 on April 30 will round out the additions to Xbox Game Pass for the month. Stoic, the studio behind the well-known Banner Saga series, opted for a side-scrolling action RPG for its latest project, and Towerborne will be launching as an Xbox Game Preview title on Xbox Series X/S and PC. The Xbox console exclusive has already been available in early access through Steam since September 2024, where it has a “Mostly Positive” user rating.

With a bright and lively color palette and soundtrack, the developer has dubbed Towerborne a replayable looter brawler experience. It offers an engaging single-player mode and, since this isn’t the game’s official 1.0 launch, Xbox gamers will only have access to couch co-op on console for now. Because it is also a Play Anywhere title, Xbox players will be able to painlessly sync their progress between console and PC.
Stoic has apparently been hard at work to prepare for this Xbox Game Pass launch . A new update will add skill trees to Towerborne’s four playable classes, which were previously primarily distinguished by their weapon type. There will also be no need to pay to respec, as learned skills can be equipped and unequipped on a whim. These changes add even more versatility to playstyle options and replayability, and Stoic will be using player feedback during Towerborne's time in early access/Game Preview to influence the direction of future updates.
Xbox Game Pass has even more exciting titles coming in May, starting off with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on May 1. Dredge, the well-received horror RPG that launched in March 2023, will be added to the Game Pass lineup on May 6 for subscribers of all tiers. And Ultimate members will be getting another day-one launch title on May 15 with DOOM: The Dark Ages.
