Atomfall is an open-world survival game with RPG elements and a heavy focus on exploration. It's made by Rebellion Developments, a British studio best known as the creator of the Sniper Elite series.
Xbox Game Pass Adds 5 Games in 1
The ever-growing Xbox Game Pass content catalog expands to include yet another title, which is essentially five games in one.
Atomfall made its way to PC and consoles on March 27, at 10am ET, when it also reached Xbox Game Pass. Since it's a day-one release, Rebellion's newest title is only available via PC Game Pass and the Ultimate tier of Microsoft's subscription service. Members of the higher XGP tiers were technically able to play it from March 24, so long as they purchased the $24.99 Deluxe Edition Upgrade, which came with three days' worth of early access.

Between its mid-20th-century post-apocalyptic setting and first-person perspective, Atomfall was unable to avoid Fallout comparisons in the run-up to its release. However, its gameplay is more akin to STALKER than Bethesda's popular series. And while it's technically open-world, its level design is closer to Metro Exodus than the 3D Fallout entries, as Atomfall features several large open environments separated by loading screens rather than having all of its locations conjoined. Atomfall is also a decisively more narrative-driven experience, with the game emphasizing investigative work in between bouts of exploration, combat, and survival. In terms of RPG elements, Atomfall features largely gear-driven progression reliant on equipment upgrades, though it also has a selection of skills that can be unlocked using several means.
When Could Atomfall Reach Xbox Game Pass Standard?
Day-one Xbox Game Pass releases typically move to the Standard tier between six months and a year after launch, depending largely on their total licensing duration. Titles available on the service for only a year usually reach the Standard library after six months, while others might take longer to do so. Atomfall could hence make its way to Xbox Game Pass Standard as early as late September 2025.
In the meantime, Microsoft's subscription service already has half a dozen confirmed day-one games for April 2025, including South of Midnight, Commandos: Origins, Descenders Next, and Blue Prince. Before any of them arrive, Xbox Game Pass is scheduled to lose ten titles on March 31. The official XGP April 2025 Wave 1 lineup announcement is expected to materialize on or around April 2.
