Microsoft has announced that it is jacking up the price of the Xbox Game Pass' Ultimate tier to $29.99 per month, but is adding 48 games in the process. Xbox Game Pass has steadily gotten more expensive as the years have gone by, but while it is certainly more costly than it was when it was first introduced, it's still easily the best deal in gaming.
With an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription, subscribers get access to a huge catalog of games, including brand-new, day one releases. The Xbox Game Pass day one releases are the biggest selling point of the service, and there is certainly plenty to look forward to in the months ahead. The Xbox Game Pass October 2025 lineup is especially stacked, with big day one releases like Ninja Gaiden 4 and The Outer Worlds 2 right around the corner.
All Games Coming To Game Pass In 2025
Along with all the new games added to Xbox Game Pass in 2025, here are also the year's upcoming Game Pass games.
Still, there will likely be many fans who are upset about the Game Pass Ultimate price increase from $19.99 per month to $29.99 per month. The new pricing will go into effect immediately for new subscribers, and on November 4 for current subscribers. To justify the price increase, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate will now include Ubisoft+ titles and starting November 18, Fortnite Crew benefits. For Fortnite players that were already subscribed to Fortnite Crew, the price increase effectively pays for itself, but those that aren't interested are likely not going to react well to the increase.

Ultimate isn't the only Xbox Game Pass tier that's getting a major shake-up. It's also been confirmed that Xbox Game Pass Standard is going the way of the dinosaur and is being replaced by the new Xbox Game Pass Premium tier, which costs $14.99 per month. Xbox Game Pass Premium includes more games than the Standard tier, with Xbox-published games guaranteed to come within a year of release, excluding Call of Duty. Notably, Premium will now include online multiplayer access. Previously, Game Pass Standard did not include online multiplayer, which was a bizarre oversight.

Now known as Xbox Game Pass Essential, the $9.99 per month service includes unlimited cloud gaming, a curated selection of Game Pass titles, and the ability to play the games on PC. This sudden price increase and Game Pass tier shake-up is likely to evoke strong reactions from subscribers. $29.99 per month is quite the ask, and it remains to be seen how this will impact Game Pass subscriber numbers.
