Xbox’s March 2023 offering of free games as a part of its Games With Gold program for Xbox Live Gold subscribers has just gone live. This month's two free games are Sudden Strike 4: Complete Collection and Truberbrook. Both are available from March 1 to March 31.

Games with Gold is an exclusive program offered only to players who subscribe to Xbox Live’s Gold-level membership and Game Pass Ultimate subscribers. As a part of the program’s monthly benefits, two games from the Xbox library are made available to subscribers for free. Though, the quality of the games may vary from month to month.

As of March 1, Xbox Live Gold members and Game Pass Ultimate subscribers can snatch up two free games until the end of the month. The first of the two is Sudden Strike 4: Complete Collection, a real-time military tactics game set in World War 2. Sudden Strike 4: Complete Collection offers a bundle of 6 DLC packs that range in price from $1.99 to $19.99, along with al free content updates and several missions not available in the base game. The Complete Collection also includes the official game soundtrack.

The second game available throughout March is Truberbrook, developed by bft Games. Originally released in April 2019, Truberbrook is a science fiction point-and-click adventure game set in 1960s Germany that began as a successful Kickstarter campaign. Truberbrook garnered a 68 on Metacritic but has been deemed “Mostly Positive” overall on Steam with 932 reviews as of publication.

In a rare twist, an additional third free game will be available from March 16 to April 15 to Xbox Live Gold subscribers. Developed by Obscure Tales, Lamentum is a survival horror game with a pixel art style. Players will guide an aristocrat named Victor Hartwell through mid-19th century New England as he faces off against a series of Lovecraftian cosmic horrors in an enormous spooky mansion. It has a 74 Metacritic score and is “Very Positive” on Steam. Some have speculated that the quality of the free games offered through Games with Gold is lower than should be expected thanks to Microsoft trying to push players toward Game Pass, as exemplified by its much more exciting slate of March releases including MLB The Show 23, Valheim, and Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty.
