A reliable insider has indicated that Xbox is preparing to confirm more multiplatform ports for the PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 relatively soon. Seeing Xbox first-party games on rival platforms isn't anything new at this point, but this rumored wave of upcoming announcements could mark the first time Microsoft confirms a Switch 2 port of one of its titles.

Early last year, Microsoft confirmed that it would begin porting Xbox first-party games to competing platforms, with the inaugural batch comprising Sea of Thieves, Grounded, Hi-Fi Rush, and Pentiment. This decision came a few months after Microsoft closed the $68.7 billion Activision Blizzard acquisition, and was likely accelerated by the crawling pace of Xbox Series X/S sales in recent years. So far in 2025, Xbox has brought Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Doom: The Dark Ages, Forza Horizon 5, and The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered to PS5.

Xbox Gave PS5 Its Best-Selling Game of 2025 So Far

In a big twist, one of Xbox's first-party games has become the best-selling title on Sony's PlayStation 5 so far in 2025.

Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 and Gears of War: Reloaded are slated to arrive on PS5 next month, with The Outer Worlds 2 coming to the Sony console in October. The Xbox slate for PS5 is evidently quite packed this year, but Microsoft may have more fuel in the tank. Speaking with Circana executive director Mat Piscatella on a recent episode of The Game Business Show, journalist and industry insider Christopher Dring claimed that Xbox is expected to announce more PS5 and Switch 2 ports "in the coming weeks." While he didn't confirm which Xbox games are next on the multiplatform slate, the timing of these announcements may fall around Gamescom 2025, set to take place from August 20-24.

Xbox Games That Could Come to PS5 and Switch 2 Over the Coming Months

  • Doom: The Dark Ages (already on PS5)
  • Grounded 2
  • Indiana Jones and the Great Circle (already on PS5)
  • South of Midnight
  • Starfield

As for which Xbox titles could show up, the gaming giant may finally confirm Starfield's long-rumored PS5 port. Bethesda recently teased exciting developments for Starfield that will be shared later in 2025, and a PS5 version would certainly fall into that criterion. Obsidian's upcoming Grounded 2 is another very likely candidate for PS5 and Switch 2, given the first game came to PS5 and Switch, and rumors of a multiplatform Halo: Combat Evolved remake have been bubbling for a long time too. Xbox may also bring existing multiplatform ports, like Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and Doom: The Dark Ages, to Switch 2.

Considering the recent reports of Forza Horizon 5 being the PS5's best-selling game of 2025 so far, it doesn't come as a surprise that Xbox is more bullish than ever on its multiplatform strategy. Piscatella explained that players today are deeply entrenched in their chosen ecosystems and social circles, making it difficult to lure them away with exclusives alone. Instead, success now depends on meeting players where they already are, and even PlayStation is dipping its toes into these waters with the Xbox version of Helldivers 2, which was announced earlier this month.
