With the highly-anticipated Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase less than a week away, speculation has been rampant among fans over what titles may be shown during the broadcast. Starfield is expected to prominently feature during the presentation following its recent delay and Outer Worlds developer Obsidian Entertainment recently hinted at an appearance as well. With fans hoping to get a glimpse at major Xbox staples like Fable and Hellblade, a recent announcement revealed Ark 2 will be at the event.

Studio Wildcard stunned fans during the 2020 Game Awards with a surprise announcement of Ark 2, an upcoming sequel to popular survival sandbox game Ark: Survival Evolved. The game's first reveal trailer revealed Vin Diesel will star in a prominent role in the sequel, later confirmed to be serving as executive producer for Ark 2 as well. While little has been revealed about the sequel in the year-and-a-half since its initial reveal, the Xbox Series X-exclusive has now confirmed it will feature during Sunday's Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase.

A recent tweet posted by Ark's official French language account reveals Ark 2 will be making an appearance during the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase alongside the upcoming "Fjordur" free DLC map set to arrive to Ark: Survival Evolved. Fans had previously noticed Sunday's showcase lines up with Fjordur's release, sparking speculation that Ark 2 would feature during the Microsoft event. A new trailer for Ark 2 during the showcase would be the first official trailer released for the game since its initial announcement in December 2020.

Though Studio Wildcard has revealed little about Ark 2 in the 18 months since its reveal, fans have been able to piece together some information from its first trailer. Alongside showcasing iconic dinosaurs like the T-Rex and Pterosaur, Ark 2's official announcement also hinted at several others set to return like the Parasaur and Triceratops. No confirmation was made about what will be shown from Ark 2 during the showcase, though many fans are hoping for their first look at the sequel's gameplay.

Despite Ark 2's lack of updates, Ark: Survival Evolved has continued to see new content frequently added to the popular survival game. December saw the release of the Lost Island map spanning a multitude of different biomes and Ark was also confirmed to be receiving an animated series alongside Ark 2's reveal. While a lack of Ark 2 news thus far may have fans waiting a while longer to play the sequel, Ark: Survival Evolved continues to offer plenty of content for fans to sink hundreds of hours into.

Ark 2 is in development for PC and Xbox Series X.
