Some participants of the Xbox Insiders program have recently discovered that their console has suddenly stopped working after the latest update. The Xbox Insiders program is a fairly useful initiative that grants Xbox owners early access to new features, but it’s prone to bugs, and this seems to be one of the worst ones in recent memory.

The Xbox Series X/S was released in November 2020, and recent estimates indicate that it may have sold over 30 million units so far. Every year, the Xbox receives numerous updates, but not all of them work properly from the start.

Helldivers 2 Reaches Impressive Sales Milestone After Xbox Launch

Sony's decision to launch Helldivers 2 on Xbox appears to have really paid off as the game reaches another impressive sales milestone.

How to Fix Xbox's Recent Update Issue

  • Sign in to your Microsoft account registered in the Xbox Insiders program.
  • Launch the Xbox Insider Hub.
  • In the hub, go to "Settings" and "Manage Device."
  • Remove your console from the Xbox Insiders program.

Starting on September 2, multiple gamers who are a part of Xbox Insiders have received a 0x8B050033 error when booting their console (spotted by Pure Xbox). After turning on the device, users were reportedly not able to update their console or access it to play games. Multiple gamers have gone to social media to complain about the issue, and there seems to be a quick way to fix the problem. Players should sign in to the Microsoft account they use for Xbox Insiders, launch the Xbox Insider Hub, go to “Settings,” then “Manage Devices,” and remove them from the program. This process will, at the very least, allow them to factory reset the console and reapply updates. As usual, it’s expected that Microsoft will correct the issue soon.

This is, unfortunately, not the only recent issue suffered by Xbox players. Last month, for example, the Xbox network suffered a major outage, which lasted for some time, creating issues for players trying to send game invites, messages, and more.

Back in July, another weird issue was noticed by the Xbox community: a glitch in which the console prompted them to update all the games that they had installed. When gamers clicked on the update button, all the updates were completed, and games would work as usual. This led some users to believe that the issue could have been caused by a problem with license validation.

Signs suggest Xbox may be phasing out physical game discs for good.

A few weeks before this incident, another major issue happened when Xbox Party Chat and other features stopped working for some gamers, causing a major headache for people trying to log on to play online with friends. Xbox is generally fairly reliable when it comes to its online services and updates, but these examples show that there are some hiccups sometimes, though they are solved fairly quickly in most instances.
