Rumor Suggests Possible Nintendo Switch 2 Port for Xenoblade Chronicles 2
Gamers recently spotted a Monolith Soft job ad on social media, which used a GIF with a Xenoblade Chronicles 2 cutscene in it. However, the cutscene had noticeably different lighting and improved background details when compared to the original game, which made fans wonder if it came from a Nintendo Switch 2 version of the RPG. Fans speculated whether this could mean improved graphics, quality-of-life improvements, and maybe even some changes to the gameplay. Considering that Xenoblade Chronicles 2 was solely released for the original Switch during its first year, it would make sense to upgrade the popular title to the new console.
What could give more credibility to the rumor is the recent release of Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition. The title was originally launched for the Wii U in 2015, but it also came to the Switch on March 20, 2025, incorporating the DLC and using remastered graphics.
If Xenoblade Chronicles 2 comes to the new platform, it’ll likely cost more than the Switch 1 edition, as has happened with other titles that had upgrades for the Nintendo Switch 2. It’s also possible that Monolith Soft could release a Definitive Edition for both the original Switch and the newest console. Obviously, fans should take this rumor with a huge grain of salt, as Monolith Soft has not, in any way, indicated that the Switch 2 port is being developed.
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is a huge RPG that offers over a hundred hours of content for completionists, so this possible remaster could be a good chance for gamers who have not tried it before. A remaster would also possibly add Torna - The Golden Country, a DLC added to Xenoblade Chronicles 2 in 2018, which would make the package last even larger for new players and veterans coming back to the popular role-playing game.
