Skip Travel, or Fast Travel, has been a gameplay mechanic of the Xenoblade Chronicles series, so it's no surprise it makes a return in the long-awaited Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition. Like with any other video game, Xenoblade Chronicles X's Skip Travel will make it easier for you to warp about Mira to complete quests and more. The Skip Travel feature is unlocked very early in X, and it's one gameplay mechanic you'll be using a lot.

Unlocking Fast Travel in Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition

FN Sites vs. Landmarks

Fast-Travel unlocks after completing Chapter 2. You can fast travel by tapping the (+) button on your Nintendo Switch controller and selecting Map. This will bring up a map of the area marked with Landmarks, FrontierNet Sites (FN Sites), and available quests (indicated by an exclamation point). Any FN Site or Landmark that appears on your map can be warped to simply by hovering over it and pressing A-button.

While you'll automatically unlock Landmark travel points when you discover them, FN Sites (indicated by golden light) require a Data Probe to acquire data from the area. Data Probes are unique in that they are reusable and can removed and placed on new FN Sites.

  1. To swap Data Probes, open your map (+).
  2. Then, tab over to FrontierNav and use A-button to swap Data Probes.

There are different types of Data Probes, but rare/special ones can only be earned from missions and treasure boxes. In the FrontierNav tab, look at the pop up menu (Data Probe Details) to view its abilities.

You won't be able to swap Data Probes until you've completed Chapter 2. Also keep in mind that swapping Data Probes costs money.

There are 104 FN Sites and 150 Landmarks throughout Mira, and they're all divided among its five regions: Primordio, Noctilum, Oblivia, Syvalum, and Cauldros. Unlike FN Sites, there's no indicator of Landmarks on your map, so you'll just need to explore the area.

Can You Fast Travel within New Los Angeles?

Fast Travel: Indoors vs. Outside

Exploring New Los Angeles to unlock fast travel points in Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition

Fast Traveling around the New Los Angeles building is the same as fast-traveling anywhere else in Mira. The only difference is you'll want to zoom in on the building to identify the landmarks that you've discovered within New Los Angeles. You can zoom in on the map by pushing forward on the right analog stick.

Unlike the outdoors, you won't find any FN Sites within New Los Angeles, so you won't have to worry about reusing Data Probes.
