Yakuza 0 Director's Cut fans might be disappointed to learn that the game's PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions will be missing its multiplayer mode at launch. Developer Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio has announced that Yakuza 0 Director's Cut will end its Nintendo Switch exclusivity on December 8 and launch on current-gen PlayStation and Xbox consoles and PC. The news of Yakuza 0 Director's Cut coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S excited many fans of the franchise. Part of the excitement comes from the enhanced edition's additional features, including never-before-seen cutscenes and new game modes. However, with the game's pages now live on the PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store, some keen-eyed fans have noticed that one of Yakuza 0 Director's Cut's key new features will unfortunately be missing at launch.

Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio and Sega reveal the English voice cast for Yakuza 0 Director's Cut, coming to the Nintendo Switch 2.

Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut Will Launch Without Multiplayer Mode on PS5, Xbox Series

The PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of Yakuza 0 Director's Cut include a disclaimer: The Red Light Raid online multiplayer mode will become playable in a post-launch update. Many consider the Red Light Raid in Yakuza 0 Director's Cut to be a major selling point, as it significantly boosts replay value. For those unfamiliar, this co-op mode lets up to four players face increasingly tough waves of enemies. However, it appears that new players on the current-gen PlayStation and Xbox devices won't be able to access this arcade horde battle game mode at launch.

As of this writing, SEGA and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio have not revealed when Red Light Raid will be added to the game. There also seems to be no official word on crossplay support, leaving fans uncertain whether they'll be able to play with friends on other platforms. However, since the mode is already available in the Nintendo Switch 2 edition of Yakuza 0 Director's Cut, the wait is unlikely to be long. Hopefully, the developer will add it shortly after the December 8 launch and include crossplay support across all platforms.

Fans of SEGA's Yakuza series looking to get the enhanced edition should also know that Yakuza 0's save data from previous-gen consoles cannot be transferred to the Director's Cut on current-gen devices. Additionally, players who own Yakuza 0 on Xbox One or PlayStation 4 cannot upgrade to the Director's Cut. More details about the upcoming re-release are available on SEGA's official webpage for Yakuza 0 Director's Cut.
