The Yakuza series is well known for its spectacular brawler-style combat system and gripping storyline. But that's not all the series is about. What makes the Y akuza games really stand out from others is the sheer absurdity they offer. This is seen in the wonderfully weird side quests and mini-games available to the player as they tag along with Kiryu to explore the Japanese nightlife of Tokyo. Yakuza 6: The Song Of Life brings back all the fan-favorite mini-games and more!
The world of Yakuza 6 is divided into two cities, Kamurocho and Onomichi. And these are the mini-games that one can find scattered throughout them.
KAMUROCHO
The majority of Y akuza games take place here, including Yakuza 6. Following are the mini-games that can be found here.
Karaoke
Yakuza 6 brings back the fan-favorite mini-game that is karaoke. Visit the nearby Karaoke place- Karaokekan- and make Kiryu sing in his ever so deep and soulful voice through the use of timed button presses. Players can unlock up to 6 songs by completing each of the previous ones with a good grade. Players can fulfill their wish to sing old Japanese songs through Kiryu.
Batting
Batting cages in Yakuza 6 are quite different from the actual baseball matches present in the game. Kiryu can visit the Yoshida Batting Center to hone his batting skills. This is a great way to practice before baseball matches. Moreover, there is an option between the home-run or challenger courses. So why not hit some balls when you're bored of hitting people?
Chat Rooms
Feel like flirting with the ladies? Live chat is a mini-game in Yakuza 6 where you can do exactly that. Head to Mantai Internet Cafe (Theater Square /Nakamichi St. /Senryo Ave.) Where Kiryu will find 2 beautiful women waiting online. Being regular with either one of them will reward Kiryu with some very steamy scenes. To top it all off, the live chat is hilarious.
Club Sega
Fan of old-school Sega games? Get ready to feel a nostalgic gush at any Club Sega (Nakamichi St / Theater Square) outlet to give those gems a revisit. In Yakuza 6 one can get access to Space Harrier (1985), Fantasy Zone (1986), Out Run (1986), Super Hang-On (1987), Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown (2010), and Puyo Puyo (2011). Get set for a throwback.
Nyan Nyan Cafe
Throughout his journey in Tokyo, Kiryu may encounter stray cats. Interacting with the cat "saves" them and brings them to shelter at the Nyan Nyan Cafe. It can be found around Southeast Kamurocho. Upon visiting the cafe Kiryu is greeted by the cats he saved. He can pet them and feed them. Beware the cats can get quite picky and don't eat each and everything he gives them. There are in total 19 Cats spread throughout the game. Gotta save 'em all!
Gym
This should be a fairly popular place as it is home to the game's most premium health items. Instead of getting health items, feel like busting up those muscles even more? Hit up the Rizap Gym. Kiryu can either use the machines or do a training course. After each training, Kiryu gets a mission to eat a certain type of dish. Gotta get that protein. The gym is located in west-central Kamurocho.
Darts
In the mood to play some darts? After you're done playing video games at Club Sega Theater Square, Bantam head to Dartslive. Here Kiryu can compete against other opponents who get stronger as he keeps beating them. Start from playing against some amateurs and slowly reach the pros. You thought you'll get easy-going darts in a bar? This is the most competitive dart session out there.
Mahjong
Mahjong is a complicated board game. To enjoy this mini-game one should actually know how to play Mahjong. Kiryu can join tournaments and face stronger opponents. Take him to any of the Mahjong Parlors (Lullaby Mahjong and Modern Mahjong). One is in west Kamuroucho and the other one is in the east.
ONOMICHI
Onomichi is the second city accessible in Yakuza 6. There are some pretty good mini-games here as well.
