New reports indicate that Yakuza Kiwami 3 has been leaked on RGG Studio’s website. While this is far from an official announcement, it could likely indicate that the remake of Yakuza 3 is on the way, possibly even being confirmed soon, perhaps at the upcoming Tokyo Game Show.
The Like a Dragon franchise began with Yakuza in 2005, followed by numerous sequels and spin-offs over the years. One of these games was Y akuza 3, released solely for the PlayStation 3 in 2009. While titles such as the first and second entries in the series received full-fledged remakes in the form of Yakuza Kiwami 1 and 2, Yakuza 3 only received a remastered edition, becoming available on PS4, PC, and Xbox One.

Yakuza Kiwami 3 Apparently Leaked on Dev's Website
This week, fans have uncovered a reference to Yakuza Kiwami 3 on the developer RGG Studio’s website (spotted by Push Square). The mention appeared in the Categories section of the website, and it has been removed since then, but some gamers have captured it on social media. Neither Sega nor RGG Studio has commented on the leak.
Last year, Like a Dragon’s series director Masayoshi Yokoyama revealed that RGG Studio was heavily considering remaking Yakuza 3, stating that the team would likely do it “sooner or later.” However, no official announcement happened at the time.
Earlier this month, Sega revealed part of its lineup for the upcoming Tokyo Game Show, which will happen between September 25 and 28. The publisher revealed some games that will be featured during the event, such as Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O World Stage, Persona 5: The Phantom X, and others, but also teased a few mysterious games, and one of them could be Yakuza 3 Kiwami. Also, Sega will be holding its annual Ryu Ga Gotoku Summit livestream next week, which saw the announcement of Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii in 2024.
There’s also a chance that Yakuza 3 Kiwami could be unveiled during the next State of Play. Recent rumors from credible sources have indicated that Sony could be planning a State of Play for September, and this would be a perfect opportunity to announce the game. Past remakes, such as Like a Dragon Isshin, have been confirmed during previous versions of the event, which gives some credibility to this theory. Considering all this, Yakuza 3 Kiwami could likely be announced next week, but gamers should still take the speculation with a grain of salt and wait until they find out more.
