Yellowjackets became one of the most talked-about shows in 2025 while season 3 was airing, and a fan recently built a pit trap from the show in Minecraft. Mojang Studios’ sandbox game continues to be one of the most popular expanses to build in, and the Yellowjackets pit is not the first pop-culture reference to appear in Minecraft. Lord of the Rings fans have recreated Middle-earth in the game, for example, as the possibilities are endless thanks to the title’s tools and materials.

Yellowjackets is a supernatural thriller created by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson, following a girls' soccer team stranded in the wilderness after a plane crash, and there are several other shows with a similar vibe to Yellowjackets. First premiering in 2021, the ensemble cast features Christina Ricci of Wednesday fame, Ella Purnell from Fallout and Arcane, and Heretic and Companion star Sophie Thatcher, alongside veteran actors Melanie Lynskey, Juliette Lewis, and Lauren Ambrose. The show's main mystery stems from the eerie wilderness, which often drives the teens into a primitive state, resulting in barbaric traps such as the pit being made.

Posted on TikTok by gabriels_edits, a Yellowjackets fan shared a tutorial video on how to build the “Pit Girl Trap,” similar to another Minecraft player who built a trap to prank their friend. The video shows a pig wandering in the wild before falling into a square pit complete with wooden spikes at the bottom, and the pit is significant in Yellowjackets because of the mystery surrounding the pit girl’s identity. However, the season 3 finale revealed Mari to be the one who was the latest victim of the hunt and met her end falling to her spikey doom.

With terrifying traps like the pit lurking in the voxel plains, Minecraft players will want all the tips and tricks to survive the hardcore world. Yet, creators immediately inquired how to build specific elements, like placing the carpet and building the sign. Additionally, fans were convinced the Minecraft trap was made by Travis, the Yellowjackets character that built the trap originally meant for Lottie, and that he had started a YouTube channel.

The Showtime series, featuring adult survivors Shauna, Taissa, Van, Misty, et al. (Obviously missing adult Mari), concluded its season-3 run recently, but a fourth season has yet to be green-lit. Fans were hoping Yellowjackets would receive an early renewal like before when season 3 was given the go-ahead months before the season 2 premiere, but thankfully, the writers still have plenty to say should Showtime announce its renewal. The showrunners had previously teased that viewers would see the girls reintegrate into normal life after being rescued, and consistent viewership bodes well for the show’s season 4 return.
