- Echoes of Wisdom offers Amiibo functionality for outfit changes and valuable items.
To celebrate the release of The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, Amiibo figures of Link from the Switch remake of Link's Awakening and Zelda from The Wind Waker are set to return to select retailers soon. The figures were previously sold alongside the releases of both games on the Switch and Wii U and will premiere alongside the launch of The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom on September 26.
Most often taking the form of collectible figures depicting characters from various franchises, Amiibos quickly became a huge commodity among Nintendo fans, especially given their usefulness in games like Super Smash Bros. Most Super Smash Bros. Fighters received their own Amiibo figure, but the selection extends to a plethora of other series as well, including several Zelda titles.
Fortunately for avid collectors who missed them the first time around, Nintendo took to Twitter to announce the return of the Link's Awakening and Wind Waker Amiibos to retail stores starting on September 26. The date coincides with the planned release of The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom that same day, giving fans an incentive to pick up the figures alongside the game.
Link's Awakening and Wind Waker Amiibos Coming Back to Retail Stores
Fans were quick to express excitement for the figures in the replies to Nintendo's post, but many also lamented the lack of an official Amiibo featuring Zelda's design in Echoes of Wisdom. The upcoming game utilizes a similar art style to Link's Awakening, which the Link Amiibo takes its design from, leaving some fans disappointed that Zelda didn't receive a figure in the same style, especially since she is the main character in Echoes of Wisdom.
Nintendo previously confirmed that Echoes of Wisdom will have Amiibo functionality, as players can use them to change the colors of certain outfits, gain valuable items, and possibly even more. Amiibos have functions in plenty of other Nintendo games as well, providing plenty of opportunities to experiment with various games and Amiibos to see what might happen.
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom releases on September 26 and puts players in control of the titular princess Zelda in her own solo adventure, though Link will reportedly be playable as well, in some capacity. With some Zelda Amiibo figures, fans can expand their game even further when Echoes of Wisdom hits store shelves and the Nintendo eShop.
