The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is an open-world RPG with loads of different types of weapons to collect. Players can get all manner of swords, boomerangs, shields, bows, and most importantly, a variety of arrows.
Arrows are great for freezing enemies in place, lighting fires to rest or solve puzzles, blowing up walls, damaging enemies, and even shocking some monsters into dropping their weapons. There are several different types of arrows in Breath of the Wild, and players will want to make sure to collect them all, so they have whatever kind of arrow they need for the task at hand.
Purchasing Arrows in Breath of the Wild
There are many stores where players can pick up some arrows for Rupees. To get a wide selection of each kind of arrow, players will want to look for the shops in each town, Beedle, and the Akkala Ancient Tech Lab.
- The building at the Kara Kara Bazaar Oasis in the Gerudo Desert sells one of each type of arrow.
- Bundles of each type of arrow, except Ancient arrows, are sold in Gerudo Town.
- Fire arrows and plain arrows can be purchased in Kakariko Village.
- Ice arrows and plain arrows can be bought in Zora's Domain.
- Ancient arrows can be purchased at the Akkala Ancient Tech Lab once the blue flame has been brought back to it.
- Fire and Ice arrows can be found in the shop in Goron City.
- Rito Village's shop carries both regular arrows and Bomb arrows.
- Tarry Town carries bundles of each kind of arrow, except for Ancient arrows.
- Hateno Village's shop sells both bomb arrows and plain arrows.
- The item shop in the Korok Forest inside of the Deku Tree carries Arrows and Shock Arrows.
A number of other merchants also sell different types of arrows. These people can't be found in towns, but will be at stables or wandering around the map.
- Plain arrows can be purchased from any Beedle at any stable in Hyrule.
- There is a man named Botrick who can be found near the Outskirt Stable in late afternoon. He sells arrows, fire arrows, and ice arrows.
- Gartan, the traveling merchant that can be found on the road to Gerudo Town, sells plain arrows.
Farming All Kinds of Arrows in Breath of the Wild
Plain Arrows
There are a number of ways to farm for plain arrows in Breath of the Wild, but the easiest takes place on the Great Plateau. Head to the Great Plateau Tower, then look to the southwest. Just below the tower are two bokoblins with bows; they will shoot arrows at Link without moving. Pick up the arrows as they shoot them. Then, then the arrows stop being an item Link can pick up. Fast travel back to the Tower, then repeat. This gets players hundreds of arrows per hour, so they can top off their plain arrows quickly.
Another great way to farm these is use the bow multiplier glitch to get tons of arrows. Head to the beginning of the Korok Forest and look for the first torch. Take out a multiplier bow, like a Lynel x3 or x5 bow. These bows use only one arrow, but it splits it into many arrows when in use. Shooting the arrow at this particular torch in the Korok Forest will give players more arrows than they shot at the torch in the first place.
Fire Arrows
The best way to farm fire arrows is to defeat enemies in the Gerudo Desert. Look for bokoblins on the tops of arrow platforms that shoot this type of arrow, then kill them. While they won't always drop bundles of fire arrows, they drop them more here than anywhere else.
Ice Arrows
There is really only one place to get Ice Arrows: players will need to kill enemies that carry them. Some good places to look are for bokoblin camps in the uppermost Hebra Region. Lynels are also a great way to get loads of different types of arrows, including the Ice kind.
Shock Arrows
Make a trip back to the Lynel on the hill near the Zora's Domain to get as many shock arrows as possible. These will respawn regularly, so make sure to check back often.
Bomb Arrows
There aren't many places where players can pick up bomb arrows without paying for them. However, there is a group of bokoblins in the Shadow Pass in Akkala that regularly drop them.
Ancient Arrows
No enemies drop these rare arrows. While there are some chests in Hyrule Castle that have these, the best way to get them is to buy them. Players can also use some of the Zelda amiibo to nab these and other kinds of arrows.
