In Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, it's Princess Zelda herself who takes on the main character role. Her gameplay is different from Link's, but one thing that stays consistent between both characters are Rupees and their value. Rupees are the currency in Legend of Zelda games, and you'll want to make an early habit of collecting them. You'll start your Echoes of Wisdom journey broke, but there are ways to make the counter go up quickly.

Best Early Methods for Farming Rupees
Treasure Chests, Cutting Grass
Zelda lacks the iconic sword and cap, but she has her own spin attack in Echoes of Wisdom. By tapping the R-button, Zelda can spin in a circle and cut down grass. While it doesn't sound exciting on paper, longtime Zelda fans know that cutting grass will sometimes uproot Rupees. Thus, you should cut grass and weeds wherever you go. The Rupees that drop from grass will normally be Green Rupees (value of 1), but if you're lucky, you may get a Blue Rupee (value of 5).
If you manage to learn the Ignizol Echo, you can use it to burn the grass instead. There's an Ignizol in one of the caves you'll find en route to the Still Suthorn Forest. Just be careful Zelda doesn't get caught in the line of fire. If she does, you can put out the flames by spinning (R-button).
Another way to get Rupees quickly is to open chests. If you look around, you might find a stray chest out of reach that requires the use of your Echoes. There's one on the left side cliff in Suthorn Forest that has 50 Rupees. You should also be opening every chest you find in dungeons since most of them have Red or Purple Rupees.

How to Get Crow Echo
After you've cleared the Suthorn Ruins Dungeon, you'll meet Lueberry, Impa's older brother. From there, you'll need to reach two giant rifts in Gerudo Desert and Jabul Ruins. If you take the left path from Lueberry's house, you'll soon enter a desert/mountainous area with Crows. Defeat a crow using one of your Echoes, and then learn the Crow Echo. At this point, you'll have 4 "triangles" of Tri's power, allowing you to summon two Crow Echoes at a time. One Crow Echo requires 2 "triangles."
With the Crow Echo, you can target enemies (ZL-button) and tap Y-button to have them attack. Attacking enemies with the Crow Echo causes them to drop a handful of Green and Blue Rupees. Your Crow Echo may sweep down and gather a Rupee for you even if there are enemies nearby.
If you're fighting Crows, be warned that they will try to steal any dropped Rupees. You can steal them back by defeating the Crow.
