No matter which route you decide to take through The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, Lanayru Temple is one of the last dungeons Zelda can take on. Though Holy Mount Lanayru is actually located further away, you can get here by traversing the Hebra Mountains in the center north of the world map as you progress the "Lands of the Goddesses" quest.
One Soldier Too Many Quest Guide - Echoes of Wisdom
There's a soldier in Hyrule Town that doesn't belong...
After getting some help from Conde, and after completing the freezing Hebra Mountains zone, Zelda will find the Lanayru Temple location deep in the Stilled World. This endgame dungeon is fairly complex and features a mechanic that requires a lot of backtracking – that is, if you don't know the correct route and correct order.
This guide explains how to beat the Lanayru Temple dungeon, including full explanations for its Heat and Freeze mechanic, and strategies for its final boss: Skorchill, a monster that appears to be an impostor of Conde's long-lost brother.
Lanayru Temple Echoes of Wisdom Walkthrough
Entrance & First Lanayru Temple Heat Puzzle
After entering the first door of the Lanayru Temple you will see two doors and a ladder leading down hidden behind ice. Head into the right-side room first to see an empty pedestal and a Fire Orb across a water gap.
Bind to the Orb, and carefully make your way back across the water to bring it to the empty pedestal.
Because it should still be in its Fire state, the Orb will turn on the fan in the central area and melt the ice.
Be careful not to let the Orb go or let it touch anything, as it will reset its position. You must Bind to the Orb and make it back to the empty pedestal without letting it break or change states – if it comes into contact with Cold damage, it will shift into a Cold state and Freeze the connected room instead.
Once you have melted the ice in the central room, either head left to get a Treasure Chest in the left-side room, or continue down the ladder to continue through Lanayru Temple. Head to the far right of this sidescrolling section to reach the second Heat Puzzle of Lanayru Temple.
Second Lanayru Temple Heat Puzzle & Small Key
Exit the sidescrolling, then head up into the next room to see a large Fan connected to a room on the left side, with two icy surfaces on either side. Head into the left room to see an Orb, an empty Pedestal, and a Freeze Launcher between the two on the other side of impassable bars.
Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom - Cotton Candy Hunt Quest Walkthrough
The Echoes of Wisdom Cotton Candy Hunt quest takes place after sealing the Faron Rift, when Deku Scrubs will try anything for more Cotton Candy.
Summon a Boulder in front of the Ice blaster, then Bind to the Fire Orb and drag it to the Pedestal.
As long as the Orb is not in its Freeze state, the central room will melt, revealing two deep water areas on either side of the fan. Exit to the now-melted room and look for the Small Key underwater on the left side.
Use tall Echoes to block off the vents expelling gas on the right side, then use a Platboom to climb up to the locked door. Open this door with your Small Key and continue through Echoes of Wisdom's Lanayru Dungeon to the second sidescrolling area.
The Third Lanayru Temple Heat Puzzle & Pressure Plates
In this area, Zelda can either summon Echoes and Bind to them to move them in the way of the ice blasters, avoiding damage, or Zelda can consume a Ice Proof potion or smoothie to avoid damage instead. Either way, make your way to the right and exit to reach the next part of the dungeon.
Head to the right of this overhead perspective area, and use Platbooms (or other Echoes that can block the ice vents) to get to the right side. Enter the room to find the third Echoes of Wisdom Heat Puzzle in Lanayru Temple.
In here, you will see a large ice wall in the middle of the room, blocking Zelda from the right side, and a ladder leading downward on the left side. Head down the ladder, then climb down the sidescrolling area's climbing wall to find a Fire Orb at the very bottom.
Set up some Echoes on the way down to avoid the Freeze blasters (preferably on the left side of the climbing area, which is furthest away), then Bind to the Orb and carefully navigate to the top of the room and place it in the pedestal without letting it break or change to Freeze form.
This will melt the large wall in the previous room, so head back, then go into the right-side door. You will see two pressure plates, one just below the entrance, and one on a platform on the right. These pressure plates must be activated at the exact same time.
Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom - Lets Play A Game Quest Guide
The Echoes of WIsdom Let's Play A Game quest takes Zelda deep underground to confront a monster that has been whispering to intruders.
There are a few ways to complete this puzzle, but the easiest is to summon an Armos while facing the right-side pressure plate, then wait until it is just about to jump onto it. At the moment the Armos jumps up to land on the plate, Zelda should jump onto the plate next to the entrance.
You can use any Echo with predictable movement to complete this puzzle, like the Lava Slimes that travel in one direction.
Open the Treasure Chest that spawns to get a Small Key, then head back into the previous room. You should see a locked door on the top left of this room.
Open the door, then head left to face a horde of enemies. Once all have been defeated, another Treasure Chest will spawn, this time containing the Dungeon Map.
Continue to the left, activate the Waypoint, then continue up to face the Lanayru Temple dungeon miniboss: a Green Slime that splits into smaller clones.
Lanayru Dungeon Green Slime Miniboss
The giant Green Slime miniboss appears halfway through the Lanayru Dungeon, and to take it down, Zelda has to use Freeze Echoes to get through its impenetrable gooey skin. The best Echo to use against this boss is the Freezard, as it follows enemies, blasts a constant stream of Freeze damage, and you can summon several at once to freeze the boss faster.
A good backup is the Ice Octo, which will rapidly fire Ice bolts at the boss, but doesn't build the Frozen condition as quickly.
Once frozen, enable Swordfighter form (or summon a strong Echo like the Darknut lvl 3) and wail away. Once you have done enough damage, it will split into two smaller versions. Repeat the same process, but take care to create space between you and the bosses so that you have room to summon new Echoes as your old ones inevitably get destroyed.
After each Slime has split four times, they will not split anymore. The best strategy to beat the Green Slime miniboss is to focus down one Slime at a time.
If you kill them all evenly, you will face eight minibosses at once in the final phase, but if you get rid of them one at a time, and focus on the weakest slime currently alive, you won't have to deal with a horde of mini slimes at the end.
After you defeat this boss, head down the ladder above to enter the sidescrolling Brazier puzzle. In this underground section Zelda must light four Braziers to open the door leading forward (on the bottom-left side of the sidescrolling area).
Some of the Braziers in the maze can be lit up with an Ignizol, but some require Zelda to summon an Ignizol at a distance, or summon an Ignizol then Bind to it to move it to an un-reachable location.

Once all four Braziers are lit, the door will open, and you can continue into the second half of the dungeon, where Zelda must solve a sprawling Heat and Freeze mechanic to roll a gigantic snowball correctly to get the Big Key.
The Lanayru Big Key & Rolling Ball Puzzle
In the final section of the Lanayru Temple dungeon, Zelda must figure out how to get a gigantic ball to roll down and land on a gigantic switch. When you step on the small switch on your side of the room, the rolling ball will trigger.
The problem is, there are a lot of icicles in the way, and the area it needs to roll across is currently melted.
To solve the Rolling Ball puzzle, Zelda must first melt the area, then re-freeze it to create a smooth surface for the ball to roll over.
Head into the room opposite the big key to the south, then continue downward, ignoring the ice wall and Orb in here for now. In the next room you will see an area below you that is frozen and a large Fan connected to a room on the right. Head into the room on the right, then continue to the room upward to find another Orb puzzle.
While heading around the ice platform that curls towards the Fire Orb, kill any enemies on the way, and either destroy Ice blocks or push them out of the way. You can summon Echoes while Binding to the Orb, so although it can be more tricky to set up correctly, it's possible to use a Flying Tile Echo to bridge the gap instead of going around the entire icy path.
Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom – All Stamp Rally Locations & Rewards
Collect every Stamp and earn all Stamp Rally rewards in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom.
Once you have cleared the path, or go with the Flying Tile strategy, Bind to the Fire Orb then carefully make your way back to the entrance to the room. Place the Fire Orb onto the pedestal to activate the Heat Fan in the previous room.
Head back down – and explore this room with Tectites to find another Treasure Chest – then head left to get back to the now-melted room. Use a heavy, non-floating Echo (like a Boulder) to activate the underwater Switch and open the door heading left.
Swim to the top-left of this room and go left to find another Orb puzzle behind another set of bars.
This time there are three vents: two hot and one cold. Block the hot vent on the right side, then drag the Orb through the Hot vent, then the Cold vent, then get it past the blocked one to freeze the previous room.
Return to the now-frozen room and take note of the two pressure plates on opposite corners. Like before, these two pressure plates must be activated at the exact same time. Because the room is now frozen, you can use the same strategy as before, too: summon an Armos or Fire Slime a few steps away from one of the plates, then jump on the other the exact moment that your summoned Echo is about to reach their target. If done correctly, the door to the north will open.
Head into this next room to fight the White Wolfos miniboss. This monster will summon two additional Wolfos to its side regularly, re-summoning more Wolfos as they are defeated. Focus on the miniboss and summon Echoes to distract the other two Wolfos to unlock the doors and continue upward.
In this room, you will see a pedestal barred off in the bottom-right and a path leading around the room starting on the left side. This path is beset by Ice Blocks and Freezard enemies, so make sure you push these out of the way and use some strong Echoes to clear all enemies on the path leading around.
Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom - Get Rich Quick Guide
Get Rich Quick! Is a side quest that will unlock a mechanism that helps you farm Rupees in Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom.
Once your path is clear, Bind to the Fire Orb, then carefully navigate around the edge of the room to place it on the blocked-off pedestal.
This pedestal heats up the room you ignored earlier that's south of the boss key, and unlocks the way back to the Rolling Ball puzzle room. Go to the right to get back to this initial room, then continue down to get back to the now-melted room that you ignored on the way in.
There is no more Ice Wall splitting the room in half, so now Zelda can use the Orb in the room to Freeze and Melt the Rolling Ball puzzle.
- Start by summoning an Ignizol or your choice of Fire-creating Echo. Then, Bind to the Orb, drag it over your Fire Echo, then place it on the Pedestal to melt the Icicles in the Rolling Ball puzzle room.
- After the cutscene plays, Bind to the Orb once again, and simply drag it onto the pedestal to re-freeze the Ball Rolling room.
This creates a flat, frozen surface for the ball to roll down. Then, to complete the Echoes of Wisdom Lanayru Temple Rolling Ball puzzle, simply step on the switch next to the Big Key chest, and watch it roll. It should activate the large switch, open the bars separating Zelda and the Big Key, and open the way forth.
Once you get the Big Key, head to the room on the far right of the Rolling Ball puzzle room to find a Waypoint and the entrance to the Lanayru Dungeon final boss: Skorchill.
Echoes of Wisdom Skorchill Boss Guide
The Skorchill boss might seem a bit intimidating, but as long as you have a way to deal ranged Ice and Fire damage, it's actually quite easy.
When this fight begins, the boss will don a Frozen Helmet on its head and begin to attack Zelda. While he is focused on Zelda, summon a ranged Fire Echo (like a Fire Wizrobe or a Fire Octo) while Locked On to the boss' Helmet.
Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom - Great Fairy Location
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom Great Fairy can be found relatively early into Zelda's journey in exile.
Once you deal enough Fire damage to its Frozen helmet, the boss will be stunned for a few moments, giving you time to swap into Swordfighter Form, summon a strong Echo, and wail on it.
When it recovers, it will enter Phase 2, and don a Fire Helmet. The boss will gain new Fire moves (many of which are Ranged) which can be trickier to avoid. To combat the Fire version of the boss, summon a ranged Ice Echo (like a Ice Wizzrobe or Ice Octo) while Locked On to its Helmet again.
In this phase, Skorchill's attacks will likely kill your Echoes very quickly, so be prepared to summon them repeatedly.
Once you deal enough Ice damage to its Fire helmet, the boss will be stunned again. Once again, swap into Swordfighter Form and keep hitting it until it enters Phase 3.
In the final phase, the boss will swap between its Ice and Fire Helmets regularly, swapping attack movesets and weaknesses at the same time. Watch for the Skorchill boss' charge-up animation and get a ranged Echo of the opposite type ready. Be sure to pop Smoothies when you get low on Hearts and keep re-summoning Echoes as they get defeated.
Eventually, the boss will be stunned for the last time. Summon your strongest Echo once again, swap into Swordfighter Form, and strike down this Impostor version of Conde's brother – sealing the Mount Lanayru Rift, acquiring a f ull Heart Container, and helping Conde figure out what happened to his brother all at once.
