The Legend of Zelda has arrived on the Nintendo Switch 2 in a quieter way than when it arrived on the last Nintendo Switch system. Unlike the franchise’s debut on the previous-generation Nintendo platform, The Legend of Zelda began its life on the Switch 2 with a pair of re-releases to the franchise’s big Switch entries, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. These Nintendo Switch 2 Editions of the iconic Zelda games bring improved graphics and performance, and should serve as excellent holdovers until Nintendo is ready to go with the next major installment in the series.

One noteworthy addition to the new Switch 2 versions of these Zelda games is the Zelda Notes feature. A new element featured within the Nintendo Switch App, Zelda Notes features new gameplay elements and improvements that make replaying these titles even better on Nintendo’s newest console. Currently, the Zelda Notes app is only compatible with these new Nintendo Switch 2 Editions of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, but Nintendo could continue to integrate it into other Zelda games. One notable title is particularly ripe for some new Zelda Notes content.

Zelda Notes Functionality Should Join Echoes of Wisdom and Beyond

Zelda Notes Is A Natural Fit For Echoes of Wisdom

Now that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom feature Zelda Notes functionality, Nintendo should add some form of Zelda Notes integration into the latest title, The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom. If Zelda Notes is truly the future of The Legend of Zelda, the publisher should continue to integrate it into other currently available Zelda titles before the next major entry is ready to go. It would also make sense to add this feature to Echoes of Wisdom, as the game has just received a new free update that adds improvements on the Nintendo Switch 2.

Among several features that could be added to The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom through the Zelda Notes app, Nintendo could implement some kind of achievement system like it has with Zelda’s other noteworthy Switch 2 re-releases. Nintendo is the only of the three console publishers not to feature an achievement system in its games — a quirk that will continue throughout the Switch 2 — but the publisher did include some form of achievements in its Zelda games through the Zelda Notes app. If this feature works for Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, then Echoes of Wisdom could add an achievement system as well.

Zelda Notes Would Allow Echoes Of Wisdom Players To Share Items And Echoes

One of the biggest features that could be integrated into The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom through the Zelda Notes app would be the Item Sharing feature. Currently, the app allows players to turn items from Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom into QR codes that can be shared with other players, which seems like a natural fit for Echoes of Wisdom given the sheer amount of usable items in the game. Furthermore, the app’s pre-existing Item Box could help players to deposit their items from Echoes of Wisdom, which can help them de-clutter their inventories, reducing the need to scroll for long periods of time to find items they need.

Additionally, if Nintendo were to integrate the Zelda Notes features into The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, it could add some kind of feature that’s similar to the pre-existing Autobuild Sharing feature for Tears of the Kingdom. In that game, the Autobuild Sharing feature allows players to send blueprints featuring items they’ve built in the game, thus helping them have an easier time solving puzzles. While Echoes of Wisdom doesn’t have the same level of complex building, Zelda Notes could add a similar kind of “guide” functionality that shows what kind of Echoes can help players get through certain sections of the game.

If Zelda Notes is truly the future of The Legend of Zelda, the publisher should continue to integrate it into other currently available Zelda titles before the next major entry is ready to go.

Zelda Notes Could Improve Echoes of Wisdom’s Navigation And Lore

On a bit of a smaller scale, The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom could use the Navigation features of the app to help guide players through different quests and help them find more hidden items like Heart Pieces and Stamps. Even though Echoes of Wisdom is a much smaller-scale title than Zelda’s other Switch ventures, it’s still a large enough game to have secrets hidden in it, which the Zelda Notes feature could help players deal with. The inclusion of the Voice Memories feature, which adds bits of lore to the established games, could also be added to Echoes of Wisdom to help players learn about the game’s unique characters and concepts.

The Zelda Notes feature is an exciting new addition to the Nintendo Switch app that not only improves on The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, but it also points to an exciting future for the franchise’s next entry on the Switch 2. While it will be great to see how this app impacts the future of the series, Nintendo could look backward in time and use this feature as an excellent Link to the Past. Here’s hoping Zelda Notes functionality comes to other Zelda games, from Echoes of Wisdom to untold future adventures.
