Saving Hyrule isn't Link's only goal in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, as there are many side quests and adventures for players to tackle for rewards like Rupees, weapons, or consumables. A Letter to Koyin is a side adventure near Hateno Village that results in a tasty treat and a new purchasable item made with local resources.
The side adventure is short but requires some creative thinking to get past it. So, if Tears of the Kingdom players need help solving the puzzle, they can use this walkthrough to complete A Letter to Koyin.
A Letter To Koyin Walkthrough
A Letter to Koyin occurs inside at the top of Hateno Village in Hateno Pasture (3620, -2058, 0177) on the pond. Players will see Koyin standing on a bridge at the water's edge, looking distressed, and they must interact with her to start the side adventure.
She tells Link her great-grandfather wrote a message before he died regarding how to keep the business successful. However, his letter somehow ended up inside a bottle in the middle of the pond. The pond is too deep for Koyin to swim across and get the bottle safely, so players must find a way to retrieve it. Link may be able to swim to the bottle, but he is also unable to swim and carry the bottle at the same time.
The bottle with Koyin's letter can't be picked up by hand, so Link will need some kind of tool to get it. The best method is to create a long pole using the Ultrahand ability and attach it to the bottle. Players can use the small forest behind the pasture to cut down trees and gather logs to make the pole. They will need an axe to cut down trees which can be made by fusing a weapon with one of the sharp stones on the forest ground.
After gathering about four to five logs, connect them to make a long pole. Then, pick up the rod with Ultrahand and extend it over the pond to the bottle. Once close enough, the option to attach the bottle to the pole appears, and it can be pulled to land.
Finally, wiggle the bottle to detach it from the pole and drop it next to Koyin. Players must talk to her again, and she will read the message and then tell Link to come to her house next to the pasture so that she can thank him. Inside the house, Koyin gives players a piece of Hateno cheese as their reward and says she wants to open up a cheese shop in the village.
Additionally, players can now sell Fresh Milk for 20 Rupees or trade it for Hateno Cheese. Fresh Milk can be picked up quickly if players have completed the Dantz Prize Cow side adventure in Hateno Pasture, so it's an excellent way to collect Rupees.
