In Tears of the Kingdom, players will want to spend time revealing Hyrule's map on the Purah Pad. As a result of The Upheaval, the Sheikah Towers have all vanished from the surface. Instead, Tears of the Kingdom has Skyview Towers. Activating the Skyview Towers is the only way to scan a region of the map for both The Surface (Hyrule) and the Sky Islands.

Once players complete the tutorial mode, they'll be sent back to the surface of Hyrule. Like the Sheikah Towers from Breath of the Wild, there are 15 Skyview Towers in every region of Tears of the Kingdom. Before players rush off to the nearest tower, they will need to find the paraglider.

Understanding Skyview Towers

When Link reaches the surface, players should hurry towards the objective marker on their map. This will take them to Lookout Landing, where they will reunite with Purah. After speaking with her, go north to trigger another series of events (main quest: Crisis at Hyrule Castle). Then, return to Lookout Landing and rest at the shelter. On the next day in-game, Purah will have Link scan the map from atop the Lookout Landing Skyview Tower. She'll also give him a paraglider, which will absolutely come in handy for the rest of Link's journey.

Instead of climbing Skyview Towers, Link needs to interact with the Terminal. This will unlock a Travel Point that he can warp back to any time he wants. Then, step into the middle of the Tower and press A-button. This will launch Link into the air where he will then scan the tower's respective regions. After that, he'll free fall, so players will have the opportunity to use the paraglider to land on one of the Sky Islands, or he can Dive towads the surface.

Even if Link doesn't have to climb the Skyview Towers, most of the Terminals are locked behind puzzles. Speak to anyone near the Skyview Towers to get a hint about fixing the Terminal. Since Link will be free-falling once he's launched from the tower, it won't be possible to scope out his surroundings (press down on R-stick) unless he lands on a Sky Island beforehand.

Every Skyview Tower in TotK

With 15 Skyview Towers, players will spend a handful of hours tracking down every last one of them. It should also be noted that the Skyview Towers are not in the same places as the Sheikah Towers. The Towers that are located in the Gerudo and Hebra region have harsh weather that will chip away at Link's health. It's better to activate those when Link has weather-resistant gear or Chilly/ Spicy Elixirs.

While players have (mostly) complete freedom of where they can go, it's best to start activating the towers closest to Lookout Landing.
