The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is a more than worthy successor to Breath of the Wild, retaining many of its best elements while building on and expanding others, all while adding tons of new systems and abilities to the mix. One element Breath of the Wild was well known for was the tremendous amount of freedom it gave players regarding the main story.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom retains many of Breath of the Wild's best elements, but does it also allow players to run straight to the final boss and take them on? This guide will answer that question and discuss how feasible it is.
Is it Possible to Go Straight to the Final Boss?
The short answer is yes. To be more specific, players are entirely capable of reaching the final boss from the moment they reach Lookout Landing and grab the Paraglider, and possibly even sooner if they can find another way of dealing with the sheer drop into the depths beneath Hyrule Castle.
Once down there, players will also need to get past the intense gauntlet of Electric Likelike, Horriblins, a White Lynal, and countless more threats standing between Link and the deepest part of the depths. Players heading straight there will only have 4 hearts, so if they aren't able to grab some good weapons or sprint past the enemy then Link will get one-shotted by most of the stuff down there.
Players will need to get creative with Zonai Devices and conserve their weapons as best as possible until they reach the drop leading to the start of the final battle. Players will then need to take on a gauntlet of Ganondorf's assorted minions, followed by every dungeon boss in the game, and then a short walk to Ganondorf and his incredibly tricky boss fight. The only thing in the player's favor here is that they'll get given the
Master Sword during the final phase, assuming they can even get there.
If players make it through all of that, then they can reach the credits without having to travel to the four corners of Hyrule and enter the game's excellent dungeons. This might make for a fun challenge for players with plenty of experience with the game, but it means missing a lot of the game's finest moments and best side quests, so this isn't recommended for a first playthrough.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available for Nintendo Switch.
