The Cold Endurance Contest! Side quest in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom challenges players to simply stand on a small pillar for an entire cold night in the desert. Unfortunately, Link will have no clothes on, and must find alternative ways to keep warm.
Thankfully, Link has a few options when it comes to retaining his body heat, meaning that this seemingly impossible task can quickly become a cinch. This guide will show players how to stay warm through the night and complete the side quest.
Cold Endurance Contest! Quest Location
The Cold Endurance Contest! Side quest in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom can be found at Mount Granajh in the Gerudo Canyon region. The coordinates for the exact location are (-1380, -3363, 0469). Players can launch themselves from the Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower, and glide southeast to the mountain. It may take a fully upgraded stamina meter and the help of the Wind Sage Tulin's gust ability to complete the trip.
Players could also glide over to the East Gerudo Sky Archipelago from the tower, and then use one of the Zonai Wing vehicles to get to the mountain easier. The only shrines that are nearby the mountain are the Kitawak Shrine at the base of the mountain, or the Siyamotsus Shrine in the sky if already unlocked.
There will be an old man named Rahdo with a small camp at the peak of the mountain. Talking to him will trigger the Cold Endurance Contest side quest.
Cold Endurance Contest! Quest Walkthrough
Rahdo will challenge players to see if they can make it through the night in the desert under the freezing temperatures. Link will have to put up 50 Rupees to take part in the challenge, but the main catch is that players cannot wear any of their clothing or armor. Players also have to stand on a small pillar the entire time, and cannot leave or touch the ground.
The no-clothes rule means that wearing cold-resistant armor such as the Snowquill Armor set is not an option to easily beat the challenge. There are other methods to make it through the cold night, such as eating food with cold-resistant bonuses, using wood and
Flint to make a fire on the small pillar, or fusing a
Ruby to one of Link's weapons and keeping it equipped. After standing on the pillar and surviving from 8 PM to 4 AM, Rahdo will reward with 100 Rupees and offer a second challenge.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is now available for the Nintendo Switch.
