Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Player Builds Impressive Mechanical Kangaroo

A talented fan of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom creates a massive and extraordinary robot themed after a kangaroo.

Kmarkow, one of the most prolific creators on the aptly named r/HyruleEngineering subreddit, recently shared a new creation: a large mechanical fish vehicle. The design was inspired by a 2023 sea creature concept from Reddit user Uoma_Never_Seen, who also developed a giant mechanical goose in Tears of the Kingdom.

Kmarkow's Fish Build Relies on a TOTK Enlargement Glitch

Kmarkow's contraption makes use of the Tenoko island boat, a unique component that can be found in the southeastern part of Hyrule, located in Tears of the Kingdom's Necluda Sea. This particular boat has long been regarded as the best base for creating naval vessels in the game, largely due to its impressive buoyancy. The creator made use of the so-called Moe enlargement glitch to modify several components during the build process. This is a relatively new glitch that's only been documented in 2025.

Kmarkow's TOTK Mechanical Fish Component List

  • 5x Zonai Sleds
  • 3x Construct Heads
  • 3x Zonai Fans
  • 2x Keese Eyeballs / Mighty Zonaite Swords (enlarged via Moe enlargement glitch)
  • 1x Zonai Steering Stick
  • 1x Zonai Big Battery
  • 1x Tenoko Island boat

As a recent discovery, the Moe enlargement glitch remains functional in the latest Tears of the Kingdom build, identified by version number 1.2.1. With Nintendo having last updated the game in August 2023, it appears unlikely the glitch will be patched. However, it is unclear whether all currently working glitches will carry over to the upcoming Switch 2 Edition of Tears of the Kingdom, which will be available as a paid upgrade for existing owners or a standalone release starting June 5, coinciding with the upcoming console’s launch.

The rest of Kmarkow’s build uses fairly common components, including a handful of Zonai Sleds repurposed as the mechanical fish’s fins. The design also incorporates three Construct Hands and a trio of Zonai Fans, among other parts. In total, the structure consists of 18 items, three short of the game’s 21-component limit. The mechanical fish hence has room for additional features. For instance, the concept offers just enough leeway for expanding it with a cannon, which can be made to auto-target enemies when attached to a Construct Head.
