Summary
- A clever player of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom created a vehicle contraption that easily eliminates Lynels.
- The contraption includes a protective cabin and a giant turret with Zonai Beam Emitters and a Zonai Cannon.
- The contraption is so effective that it can quickly stun-lock and defeat Lynels in just 15 seconds, making it highly useful against any Lynel encountered in the game.
One crafty The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom player devised a way for Link to delete a Lynel without breaking a sweat after some clever engineering. They then took to social media to share their imposing contraption which trivializes one of Tears of the Kingdom's most dangerous enemies outside of bosses.
The sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild inherits the vast majority of its predecessor's creature pool, all the while expanding it with over half a dozen new enemies. Yet Lynels are still among Tears of the Kingdom's biggest challenges, not least because they hit hard and can take a lot of punishment, on top of having a fairly extensive moveset which makes them more unpredictable than most other threats across Hyrule.
In an effort to facilitate the process of downing a Lynel, Reddit user BlazeAlchemist991 recently designed a convoluted contraption that outright deletes these creatures. Their imposing piece of engineering comes in the form of a Tears of the Kingdom vehicle rolling on four Zonai Big Wheels carrying a cabin that effectively protects Link from all incoming damage. Sitting on top of that dome is a giant turret containing over half a dozen Zonai Beam Emitters and one Zonai Cannon.
While a single Beam Emitter isn't particularly deadly, a full stack of them paired with a cannon seemingly deals enough damage to dispose of a Lynel in some 15 seconds, as revealed by a brief gameplay clip demonstrating this war machine in action. The design appears to be so effective that its protective cabin looks like a redundancy, not least because the contraption's sole cannon consistently stun-locks Lynels, thus preventing them from doing anything while the Beam Emitters push through damage.
The creator of this deadly machine opted to demonstrate it in the Floating Coliseum, the most threatening area of the Depths, which are themselves among the most dangerous locations in Tears of the Kingdom. Seeing how well their experiment turned out, there's little reason to believe that the machine wouldn't be super effective against pretty much any Lynel that players encounter across Hyrule.
This newly emerged vehicle, labeled as a "pulse emitter" by its creator, was possibly inspired by a Lynel-farming machine that another Tears of the Kingdom player showcased earlier this week. Namely, both designs feature a large amount of Beam Emitters and a sole Zonai Cannon mounted on an auto-targeting Construct Head, with the main difference being that this latest contraption is pilotable.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available on Nintendo Switch.
