In The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Link has upgraded from his trusty Sheikah Sensor to a new and improved version, the Purah Pad. The Purah Pad is developed by an eccentric Sheikah scientist named Robbie, who offers Link various enhancements to the device. With the Shrine Sensor and Sensor+ upgrades unlocked, Link embarks on a new adventure that involves photographing monsters, items, and other discoveries he encounters during his explorations.

Though available upon unlocking the Camera, Link is officially introduced to the Hyrule Compendium when unlocking the Sensor+ function for the Purah Pad, which allows him to track nearly anything in the game. There is just one quest associated with completing the Hyrule Compendium, “Filling Out the Compendium,” which actually does not require Link to fill out the compendium at all. Here’s what players need to do to complete this quest in Tears of the Kingdom

To start the quest "Filling Out The Compendium," players must visit Robbie at the Hateno Village Research Lab, situated atop a hill at coordinates (3779, -2111, 0250). However, before Link can receive this quest, he needs to complete these three prerequisite quests:

  • "Camera Work in the Depths" - Unlocks the Camera
  • "Hateno Village Research Lab" - Unlocks the Shrine Sensor
  • "Presenting: Sensor +!" - Unlocks the Sensor+

After turning in “Presenting: Sensor +!,” which requires Link to photograph five creatures for the Hyrule Compendium, Link gains the ability to interact with Robbie's own Hyrule Compendium. The device is situated on a desk at the center of the room where Robbie is located. By interacting with the Hyrule Compendium he will start the quest, "Filling Out The Compendium."

Robbie, proud of his complete compendium, will boast about its entirety and propose selling a photograph of any item or creature that Link has not captured yet. The price for this photo is set at 100 rupees. Link has the freedom to select any category, and upon purchase, he will receive a random photo for an entry that he has not yet captured himself.

This option might not be particularly enticing unless the player is struggling with the remaining entries, as there is no way to predict the specific content of the purchased photo other than knowing it will be something Link has not photographed before.

It is important to note that Link will have to interact with the Hyrule Compendium device for Robbie to offer his photo for sale. When speaking with Robbie directly he will only offer quests related to Purah Pad upgrades.

To complete, "Filling Out The Compendium," Link just has to purchase a single photo from Robbie. Of course, this purchase does not actually fill out the entire Hyrule Compendium. To accomplish this task, Link must engage in extensive exploration and take numerous photographs to complete its over 500 entries.
