Link has gotten some brand new abilities in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and it would make perfect sense for Nintendo to create activities in which players can use the same abilities to solve puzzles and get rewarded. In Hyrule, those curious enough will often find side quests that will need that exact kind of quick thinking to complete.
Following the completion of the first two fossils, Loone is back once again to enlist the player's help in putting together the last giant fossil in the world. For those needing some help, here's everything to know about the Gerudo's Colossal Fossil side quest in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
Updated September 13, 2023: Finding Gerudo's Colossal Fossil in Tears of the Kingdom is a bit of a pain thanks to the area's immense sandstorms. Thankfully, the location of the fossil lies beyond the whirling sand but players still may have a bit of a tough time tracking down the cave they'll need to enter to complete the sidequest. To help players in finding and fixing Gerudo's Colossal Fossil in TOTK, the following guide has been updated and now includes a video.
Gerudo's Colossal Fossil Location in TotK
Similar to the previous side quest for Loone, after completing Hebra's Colossal Fossil, this new quest will already be next on the list for players to follow up on. Head on over to the Gerudo's Colossal Fossil in the Gerudo region, whose exact location is at the coordinates -3882, 3697, 0222.
It is hard to miss the entrance in the desert, so go inside and look for Loone at the campfire.
Gerudo's Colossal Fossil Walkthrough
After speaking to the NPC, she will reveal that players will have to help her put together the fossil that is a child of the Leviathan. The time to reunite parent and child is now, and all the parts needed can be found in the very same cave.
There are two pieces to be unearthed in order to complete that objective, and players will have to find the tail and the body of the child fossil.
Tail
The tail of the fossil is found at the back of the cave next to a small body of water. However, it is covered by sand, which can only be removed by using the nearby Zonai fan or enlisting the help of Tulin.
Once the tail part has been uncovered, use Ultrahand to bring it back to the body of the child fossil and attach it.
Body
As for the body, players will need to find their way above the bigger fossil found inside the cave. First, use Ascend to get above the big fossil, and from here, look for the part in the ceiling where something is protruding out. This is where arrows with bomb flowers will come in handy --destroy the rocks and free the part.
Again, use Ultrahand to return the part to the child fossil and attach it for a complete repair.
Now that the child fossil is again in pristine condition, players can return to Loone and speak with her to complete the quest. She will reward Link with 50 Rupees for all the hard work.
