Guidance from Ages Past is a main quest in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom that players can initiate by interacting with the Zonai Relic that is beyond the large doors on Dragonhead Island. To complete this quest, fans must descend into the Depths, solve several puzzles, and defeat a boss. This guide is here to walk players through all of those steps, and it will help them reach the end of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom's Guidance from Ages Past quest.
To note, players that have not spent much time activating Lightroots within the Depths, should make sure that they have a stockpile of TotK's Brightbloom Seeds at their disposal before pursuing Guidance from Ages Past. Indeed, those items make traversing the Depths much easier, and fans that are working on this main quest will be glad to have some on hand.
Follow the Light
A light will emanate from the Zonai Relic as soon as players interact with it, and the quest's first objective is to take the Relic to the spot upon which its light shines. To do this, fans should pick up the Relic, descend the ramp that is ahead, and attach the object to the wings that are on the ground. Fans should then attach two Fans and one of TotK's Steering Sticks to their wings, fly their craft northward, and land at the point where the light terminates (1310, -2472, 0083).
Players will find a pedestal in this position, and they should place the Zonai Relic next to it to reveal a hidden path that leads underground. There is a lift at the end of this path, and setting the Relic on the post at its center will allow fans to descend into TotK's Depths.
To the Ruins
Upon arriving in this underground area, players should head south to activate the Muokuij Lightroot at 0867, -2274, -0556. Fans should then pick up the Zonai Relic and take it north to the Construct Factory at 0866, -2159, -0560. Here, players will encounter a circular device, and using TotK's Ultrahand ability to place the Relic in the top slot will trigger the next objective.
Build a Body that Could House Mineru's Spirit
That next objective tasks players with filling the circular device's remaining four slots with parts that are found nearby. Before players start working on those puzzles, it is recommended that they activate the Uisihcoj Lightroot at 0929, -1904, -0460, as the light that it provides is very useful.
To the Secret Stone of Spirit
The body will emerge from the circular device as soon as it is complete, and players should mount it and ride it up the ramp to get a brief tutorial on the construct's functionality. When this tutorial concludes, players must start working their way toward the Spirit Temple at 1424, -3160, -0607, stopping at a series of armories along the way. Here is a path that players can use to reach the Spirit Temple, and they should be prepared to fight a few battles between stops:
- Go northeast to armory at 1077, -2154, -0557, and attach Fan to back slot.
- Go southeast to armory at 1232, -2329, -0626, and attach Cannon to hand slot.
- Go south to Sijoutu Lightroot at 1216, -2542, -0612 and activate.
- Go south to armory at 1215, -2791, -0583, and attach Spiked Iron Ball to hand slot.
- Use Spiked Iron Ball to break through cracked rocks and continue south.
- Go south to armory at 1383, -3115, -0638, and attach Rocket to back slot.
- Use Rocket to cross broken ramp at 1434, -3129, -0624.
Players are now at the Spirit Temple, and they should proceed inside and examine the statue in the middle of the room to activate a lift. When that lift comes to a stop, fans should walk forward toward the Secret Stone to initiate a boss battle.
Beat Seized Construct
The battle with the Seized Construct is quite straightforward, and the goal is simply to knock the boss into the barbed wire around the perimeter of the area. This can be done by guarding against the boss's melee attacks and then hitting back with three Spiked Iron Ball strikes. Notably, Tears of the Kingdom players can find these offensive objects around the battle arena, giving them the opportunity to attach the weapons to their construct's hands during the fight.
Once the Seized Construct reaches 50% health, it will begin to hover and fire Canons from its airborne position. Players can avoid this assault by staying mobile and using their construct's guard ability, and they should go on offense when the boss comes in for a landing. After repeating this process several times, the Seized Construct will fall, allowing players to approach the Secret Stone and complete the Guidance from Ages Past main quest in Tears of the Kingdom.
