Summary

  • The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom offers a lot of content for players to uncover in its open world, providing plenty of quests and activities to keep players engaged.
  • Compared to its predecessor, Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom increases the difficulty with mechanics like decayed weapons and life-draining Gloom, making quests more challenging.
  • Some quests, like Misko's Treasure and Where Are The Wells, can be particularly difficult due to the large map size and the need to find hidden locations without clear markings on the map. Completing these quests may require time and perseverance.

There is a lot of content packed into The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom for players to uncover across the open world of Hyrule. Between the main quest line, side quests, shrines, and collectibles, players will not find themselves without something to do during their time in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. However, although it's not the hardest game, some of the quests players will come across can be quite challenging, especially in a game with such a massive scale as Tears of the Kingdom.

Compared to its predecessor Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom ups the difficulty in a variety of ways like with its decayed weapons mechanic, life-draining Gloom, and an even bigger map that includes the Sky Islands and the Depths. As a result, many of the quests in Tears of the Kingdom have seen a jump in difficulty from Breath of the Wild as well as other past Zelda titles. Even the most dedicated Zelda fans may have trouble with completing a few of these tough tasks that Tears of the Kingdom throws at players.

Misko's Treasure

One of the aspects of Tears of the Kingdom that can make for a challenging quest is the shear size of its map which contains three major areas: Hyrule, the Sky Islands, and the Depths. This can make tasks like finding treasure during the Misko's Treasure quest line all the more difficult as there are tons of possible locations to traverse. Although Misko's Treasure does mark the rumored locations of chests on Link's map, finding the entrances to and successfully exploring the caves where these treasures can be found is a major undertaking, especially for the ones that hide surprise enemies laying it wait.

Where Are The Wells

Locating all the chests in the Misko's Treasure quest line is bad enough, but at least the player is given some clue as to their locations. The Where Are The Wells quest line takes the difficulty of scouring Hyrule up a notch as players will need to find 58 total wells without the aid of marks on their map to help them. Trying to complete this task without a guide can be just as difficult as the hardest bosses Tears of the Kingdom has to offer and will likely be a time-consuming endeavor for any player willing to try.

Master Kohga of the Yiga Clan

The Yiga Clan's presence in Tears of the Kingdom is primarily located in their new home within the Depths where Master Kohga seeks the power of Link's ability to build devices to use for Ganondorf's aims. Throughout this side quest, the player will have to do battle with Master Kohga who utilizes a variety of Zonai devices to build increasingly intricate machines in an attempt to squash Link. To make matters worse, finding the entrances to the Abandoned Mines where Kohga can be found can be challenging enough on their own, often requiring players to traverse treacherous parts of the Depths or find hidden Chasms in the over world.

Destroy Ganondorf

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

Fittingly, the most difficult quest in Tears of the Kingdom is likely the final main story one where Link is tasked with heading to the Depths below Hyrule Castle and defeating Ganondorf once and for all. This quest is the culmination of the entirety of Tears of the Kingdom, so it makes sense that it would test the player's ability to use everything they've learned throughout the game to succeed. Not only is the path to Ganondorf fraught with danger including the Demon King's Army that players will need to defeat, but the fight against the Demon King himself is arguably the hardest fight in the game.
