Even though The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is a direct sequel to Breath of the Wild, several aspects of the game are quite different. Runes and Champion Blessings are gone and have been replaced by Zonai abilities and Sage abilities. Revali's Gale was one of the most useful blessings in Breath of the Wild because it allowed players to create powerful updrafts.
This guide will show players how they can create updrafts in Tears of the Kingdom, including strong updrafts similar to Revali's Gale. It can come in handy in several situations, including Shrines and overall world exploration.
Updraft Uses
In Breath of the Wild, players were so accustomed to using Revali's Gale that when many of them first played the sequel, they nearly forgot how much harder it would be to navigate the world without it.
When a fire starts to spread, an updraft is created, and this makes it possible for Link to get out his paraglider and use it to ascend. It may not seem like it at first, but updrafts can actually make players' lives easier in various situations.
For example, gamers that still haven't exchanged too many Lights of Blessing for Stamina Vessels may have a hard time climbing tall cliffs. If they create an updraft, they'll immediately get a head start, as they'll be able to ascend with the glider before latching onto the wall.
It can also be used to easily get on top of a Stone Talus, reach the other side of a river without having to swim, fly over unsafe areas or objects, or reach another Sky Island without risking the possibility of falling.
How to Create an Updraft
In order to create an updraft, players need to take advantage of their environment and then use fire to their own benefit.
The wind will only cause an updraft when it's spreading, so gamers will first need to make a fire in Tears of the Kingdom, and then spread it. Gamers will have to find dry grass or any other sort of flammable material in their environment, and then they must set fire to it. To do this, players can use
Fire Fruit, build their own campfire, use a fire weapon, or, if they own the
Ember Trousers, perform a spin-charge attack to set fire to their surrounding area. As the fire spreads, an updraft will appear.
How to Create a Powerful Updraft
Players can create powerful updrafts, and it'll be like a DIY version of the Revali's Gale ability. To do this, gamers will need to find some
Hylian Pine Cones. According to its Hyrule Compendium entry, the Hylian Pine Cone can be found all over Hyrule, most commonly near the Hebra Mountains and the Lanayru Great Spring. Their oil burns extremely well, so when thrown in a fire, they greatly increase the intensity of the flame.
If gamers throw a Hylian Pine Cone into a campfire, it will increase its flame temporarily and immediately create a massive updraft, just like Revali's Gale. Players should use this information to their advantage while exploring the great kingdom of Hyrule.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available for the Nintendo Switch.
