Steamed Tomatoes are one of the new dishes you can cook in Tears of the Kingdom. Due to how common their ingredients are, it's a good meal if you're missing a few hearts. One perk to Steamed Tomatoes is how easy it is to make a Steamed Tomatoes meal that gives buffs, such as Speed or Stealth Up. If you're someone who likes upgrading your horse's stats, a feature exclusive to Tears of the Kingdom and not its predecessor, Breath of the Wild, then you'll want to have a few Steamed Tomatoes on hand when you visit the Malanya Spring.

What Ingredients to Use?

To make Steamed Tomatoes, you'll need at least one Hylian Tomato and one Wild Green (ex: Hyrule Herb). Once you have these, you can combine them in a cooking pot. Hylian Tomatoes are the more-obvious ingredient here, but Wild Greens is a category of ingredients. This allows you to cook different types of Steamed Tomatoes that won't just heal you, but can also buff you depending on the second ingredient (ie: Wild Greens).

Cooking a Hylian Tomato by itself will result in a Simmered Tomato meal rather than Steamed Tomatoes.

You can increase the amount of health recovered by cooking Steamed Tomatoes during a Blood Moon or adding more than one Hylian Tomato. The more Hylian Tomatoes you have, the more hearts you can receive from Steamed Tomatoes.

Here's how to make every type of Steamed Tomatoes in Tears of the Kingdom:

Ingredients Required (at least one of each)

Meal Effect

N/A

Sunny Steamed Tomatoes

Hearty Steamed Tomatoes

Chilly Steamed Tomatoes

Provides Heat Resistance.

Spicy Steamed Tomatoes

Provides Cold Resistance.

Mighty Steamed Tomatoes

If you're using Wild Greens that grant buffs, then you will want to avoid mixing Wild Greens with different effects. This will cause the buff to cancel out. For example: Cook a Hylian Tomato and two Swift Violets, not a Hylian Tomato, one Swift Violet, and one Cool Safflina.

Where to Find Steamed Tomatoes Ingredients

Kakariko Village, Hyrule Field, and Hyrule Ridge

Depending on what type of Steamed Tomatoes you want to make, you'll need to search specific regions of Hyrule to farm the Wild Greens. If, for example, you want to make Chilly Steamed Tomatoes, then you'll want to look for Cool Safflinas, which can be found in the Gerudo Highlands or Gerudo Summit. Likewise, if you want Spicy Steamed Tomatoes, you'll need Warm Safflinas instead. Thus, the best "Wild Greens" ingredient you'll want for Steamed Tomatoes are the Hyrule Herbs. These can be found in Hyrule Field and Hyrule Ridge. You can also purchase them from certain vendors.

Hylian Tomatoes appear in Hyrule Field as well, but you can find them specifically growing along the path leading into Kakariko Village (2064, -1190, 0137). There are also Hylian Tomatoes near the Riverside Stable and Batrea Lake. Otherwise, if you've unlocked the farm/crops in Hateno Village, you can have Uma grow them for you.

Crops take two in-game days to grow.

Where to Use Steamed Tomatoes

Upgrade Horses at Malanya Spring

The obvious way to use Steamed Tomatoes is to eat them. Depending on the amount of tomatoes and wild greens you used when making them, the health restored and potential buff length will vary. However, if you have stronger meals, then you can either sell the Steamed Tomatoes to earn a few rupees, or you can give them to Malanya to upgrade a horse.

Malanya can be found at the appropriately-named Malanya Spring. When you first meet him, he'll want one Endura Carrot, but after this, you'll be able to revive any of your horses or upgrade them. To upgrade horses, you'll need to give Malanya meals. There are four categories that you can upgrade: Strength, Speed, Stamina, and Pull.

Some horses can't have their stats raised. The giant white horse and the giant horse, for example, cannot have Pull upgraded.

You will need Steamed Tomatoes to upgrade the following stat:
