The Zorana Weapons in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom are a bit unique compared to most of the weapons found in all the other Regions. First of all, there are a couple of different types instead of just one such as
Zora Sword,
Zora Longsword,
Zora Shield, and
Zora Spear. Secondly, all of the weapons have the Trait Water Warrior, which doubles their attack while Link is sopping wet.
11 Nintendo Switch Games Ideal For Long Journeys
When preparing for a long trip, these fun Switch games are a great way to pass the time.
Now, players are going to need a
Zora Spear if they want to craft the
Lightscale Trident, one of the best weapons with this Water Warrior Trait and one of the best weapons overall in Tears of the Kingdom. There's a very particular reason why this Water Warrior Trait is so good, and it has to do with Sidon's Water Sage ability, but these Spears are also just useful even without that Trait. In fact, these Spears, in certain situations, can be even more difficult to find than Diamonds, so let's go over exactly where Zora Spears are found.
Updated October 26th, 2023 by Jacob Buchalter: Finding specific weapons is pretty difficult in the beloved game known as The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. And, it's even more difficult to find a regional-specific weapon reliably. While Gerudo weapons have some truly absurd Fusion potential, they're not the only overpowered regional weapon. Zora Spears are another weapon type that many players only discover the true power when they're at least halfway through the game. Because of the Water Warrior Trait that these Spears have, when combined with Sidon's Water Sage ability players can reliably make Link damp whenever they want. Doing this activates the Water Warrior trait, doubling the power of the weapon for a pretty good duration of time. And when the spear is combined with anything that has a lot of Fusion Attack Power, this damage number can get pretty ridiculous.

Regional Weapons in Tears of the Kingdom are basically the 'specialty weapons (or shields)' of that area of the map that usually correlate to the race of that Region as well. Of course, this isn't a 'concrete' rule of this game, but for the most part, Gerudo items are found in the Gerudo Desert, Cobble Crushers are found in the Eldin Mountains (AKA Death Mountain), Falcon Bows are in the Hebra Mountains, and any weapon with 'Zora' in the name is found in the Lanayru Great Spring area of the map.
Typically, Link is only able to find Regional Weapons in said Region. So, he's not (usually) going to find a Cobble Crusher all the way up at the top of one of the frigid Hebra Mountains. All of this is to say that Zora Spears are most commonly found in the part of the map that encompasses the Lanayru Great Spring, Wetlands, and Mount Lanayru. And, players really shouldn't bother searching for them anywhere else, except for maybe the equivalent Depths directly underneath their respective Regions.
Where & How To Find Zora Spears
There are, on average, three different methods for locating Regional Weapons in TotK and sadly none of these methods include just buying them from a specific vendor:
- They're obtained as rewards from Quests.
- They're found in specific Chests on the map.
- They're looted directly from the hands of monsters.
Let's go over each of these individual methods in-depth so players know exactly where to find all the Zora Spears they should ever need to craft their absurdly powerful Water Warrior Fusion combinations.
Method 1: Quest Reward(s)
Sadly, as far as the most 'expert' TotK players can seem to find, there's only one Side Quest that gives a
Zora Spear as a reward, which makes this first method a bit of a bust. Still, it's worth knowing that the Zora Spear is a reward from a Side Quest called Mired in Muck.
To find this Mired in Muck Side Quest, just head for the Upland Zorana Skyview Tower. Once there, players should not only see some muck blocking the door (clearing it unlocks the Skyview Tower) but also a Zora by the name of Bazz near the Tower completely buried in the muck. Using an
Opal-fused weapon, a bit of
Splash Fruit, Chu Chu Jelly, or any other method that involves water, players will wash away the muck on this Zora Guard and he'll then thank Link and gift him with a Zora Spear.
Method 2: Specific Chest Locations
Next up are the Chests that specifically have a Zora Spear inside instead of a random reward from a 'pool' of options such as with the Chests that Like Likes drop. There are only a few of these, so use the Spears inside sparingly:

After climbing up to the second eternally damp area of the Upland Zorana Foothill Cave where the |
|
|
Ralis Pond |

The first one is found In a Chest buried in the ground near the smaller pond just southwest of Ralis Pond. This is one of the rare Chests that are sort of just...sitting there without Link having to do anything, so it should be clearly visible to players as they approach. |
|
|
Ultria Grotto |

The second one is found in the dirt on the patch of land (above ground) between the Ulria Grotto East Cave entrances. Basically, look for the ruins of a home, and in the center of what used to be someone's house Link should see a dirt-covered Chest sticking out about halfway. Use Ultrahand to pop this right out of the dirt and grab the Zora Spear inside. |
Method 3: Zora Spears Gathered From Enemies
Now for the best method of obtaining Zora Spears which is farming known enemy locations or just fighting enemies in the Lanayru area and getting lucky with the weapons they drop. Not only will the Lizalfos in this area (rarely) use Zora Spears as weapons, but Ice Likes in Caves drop Chests that have a chance to contain Zora Spears as well. To name a few locations that have easy-to-find Ice Likes in them:
- Ancient Zora Waterworks
- Upland Zorana Byroad
- Tabahl Woods Cave
These Chests the Like Likes drop will pull from a random list of potential items as Link opens them, so they could contain a Zora Spear or any other Zora Weapon, sometimes they even have
Lizal Shield. If this happens, simply wait until the next Blood Moon and kill these Ice Likes again. Alternatively, players can also save right before killing the Like Likes, then reload if the Chests they drop don't have a Zora Spear inside.
There are also a couple of Lizalfos camp locations players have reported finding where, on every respawn, one of the Lizalfos will be holding a Zora Spear. These locations are:
- Near the entrance to the Upland Zorana Foothill Cave.
- Just northwest of where the map will say 'Upland Zorana' when Link zooms in on the northwest edge of Zora's Domain. There will be a small Lizalfos camp just on the cliff's edge.
- In the hands of a Lizalfos just north of the Tabahl Woods Well.
- In the hands of a Bokoblin on the western edge of the Bridge spanning the entirety of the Bone Pond.
After all this, players should easily have enough repeatable and non-repeatable locations to gather Zora Spears for any and all of their Fusion needs.
