On the Great Sky Island at the beginning of Tears of the Kingdom, players will need something that will protect them from the heat. This is to introduce the temperature/weather effects mechanic. Aside from heat, Link will also be afflicted by the cold if he's not wearing the right armor.

Tears of the Kingdom has several armor pieces that have Heat Resistance, and one of these is the Sapphire Circlet. Unfortunately, the Sapphire Circlet is one of the more expensive purchases in Tears of the Kingdom, especially for new beginners. Also, if players have been upgrading their other heat-resistant armor, the Sapphire Circlet may not be worth the Rupees.

How To Get A Horse In Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom

Horses are one of the easiest ways of getting around in Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom; here's how to get one.

Sapphire Circlet Location (Before Lightning Temple)

The Sapphire Circlet is sold at the Starlight Memories jewelry store in Gerudo Town (-3875, -2864, 0043). The Gerudo Town itself is at the end of the path southeast of Kara Kara Bazaar (-3273, -2551, 0023). On a first visit, Gerudo Town will be completely abandoned. Fortunately, the residents are staying in the shelter below the town. To get there, do the following:

  1. From the north entrance, go to the left around coordinates -3792, 2903, 0043. There will be an ornate basin that players can jump in.
  2. Link will then land in the waterway below Gerudo Town.
  3. Swim straight until Link is able to walk in the shallow water.
  4. Follow the tunnels, and eventually, players will find a letter in a bottle. The contents of this letter don't matter, but players will notice that there's more than one floating downstream.
  5. Trace back where the bottles are coming from, and it will eventually lead Link to a room with a rope dangling from an opening in the ceiling.
  6. Stand below the ceiling opening (or close to it), then use Ascend to enter the Gerudo Shelter.

One of the merchants in the main room of the shelter is selling jewelry. Speaking to her unlocks "The Missing Merchant" side quest, but that will be easier for players to complete after the Lightning Temple. For now, grab the Sapphire Circlet, which is 1400 Rupees.

Unfortunately, it's rather pricey, but it's a nice accessory to have if Link is walking through the Gerudo Wasteland at night or exploring colder regions (ie: Hebra, Gerudo Highlands, some of the Sky Islands).

If players have already completed the Lightning Temple, then they can find Starlight Memories (-3875, -2864, 0043) to the right, past the north gate of Gerudo Town. The Sapphire Circlet will be priced the same whether Link purchases it in the shelter or in Gerudo Town. There are also three other accessories that weren't available in the shelter.

How to Upgrade the Sapphire Circlet (& Is It Worth Upgrading?)

loz totk sapphire circlet upgrade great fairy

The Sapphire Circlet can be upgraded from a defense of 3 to a max defense of 20 if players have started the "Serenade to a Great Fairy" quests. The first one is a mandatory part in the "Potential Princess Sightings!" Side adventure, which Link can get by speaking to Traysi at the Lucky Clover Gazette (near the bridge to Rito Village). This will allow Link to raise the level of (most of) his armor to 1-star. To get to 4-stars/max, every Great Fairy Spring will need to be "unlocked."

Here are the upgrade requirements that players are looking at regarding the Sapphire Circlet:

  • Flint will be the easiest material to farm for the Sapphire Circlet's upgrades. It's a fairly common drop from any Ore Deposit in TotK.
  • On the other hand, Sapphires only drop from Rare Ore Deposits, and they're the second most-difficult ore to drop (the first being Diamond ).
  • Star Fragments will occasionally crash into the earth at night and can be spotted from far away. Unfortunately, if players aren't fast enough to track down their location, they'll disappear. Luckily, TotK has another method of farming Star Fragments:
    • Dive from a Skyview Tower or a Sky Island at night, and a Star Fragment may streak by Link. If he's close enough, players can grab it midair with A-button.

Best Armor Combinations for Sapphire Circlet

The Sapphire Circlet may offer one level of heat-resistance when purchased, but it's not part of an armor set. This means it won't generate any Set Bonuses when paired with other armor. However, it can be paired with armor that has better defense such as the Champion's Leathers or the Armor of the Wild (excluding the Cap of the Wild).

Another armor piece that players may want to wear with the Sapphire Circlet are the Sand Boots or Snow Boots. This will allow Link to run in the sand/snow respectively at his regular speed. The Sand Boots + Sapphire Circlet combo is a bit more limited, as it'll get most of its use from those that explore the Gerudo Wastelands at night compared to the Snow Boots + Sapphire Circlet combo.
