While players visit Hateno Village in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, they may become embroiled in the towns clash of ideals and subsequent mayoral election. As part of the village's grander election questline, players will need to help the incumbent mayor Reede gain an edge over his political opponent. His idea involves creating a signature food to help the village's renown. What sort of delicacy is he after, and how can Link help him?
How To Begin A New Signature Food in TotK
In order to start the side adventure "A New Signature Food" in Tears of the Kingdom, players will first need to kick off the mayoral election in Hateno Village.
To begin, visit Ventest Clothing Boutique, the town's clothing shop, located at the coordinates 3356, -2129, 0121. After talking with the small crowd outside, Link will be admitted to enter the building to meet Cece the eccentric fashion designer.
After a short while speaking with Cece, Link will witness a heated exchange between her and Mayor Reede. During the conversation, Cece will call for a mayoral election to prove the village's embrace of new fashion-forward ideals.
Once the dust has settled, players can find and talk to Reede in his hilltop house at the coordinates 3428, -2083, 0131. Reede will share with Link that he has plans to help Hateno Village prosper without Cece's new ideas, kicking off "A New Signature Food" in the adventure log.
How to Unlock the Hateno Cheese Shop in TotK
As the side adventure begins, Reede tells Link about a recipe he believes might be "traditional touch" his campaign needs. In the past, his grandfather worked on perfecting a recipe with a cheese maker in town, but the recipe and the cheese maker's name have been lost to history.
While Reede tries to come up with other ideas, players should make their way eastward up the hill to the edge of Lake Sumac at 3634, -2048, 0175. There they will find Koyin on the dock looking out over the water.
A Letter to Koyin
Koyin has finally found a letter from her great-grandfather, but has accidentally dropped it into lake. Players will be tasked with another side adventure "A Letter to Koyin" to retrieve the letter from the water.
Players have the option of swimming out to the bottle and slowly pushing it to shore, or they can use nearby wood to craft a boat or platform out in the water in order to grab the bottle with Ultrahand. With the bottle on the dock, speaking to Koyin will have her open the letter and excitedly hurry off.
Koyin can then be found at 3632, -2098, 0178 in her home nearby at Hateno Pasture where she'll be working on the recipe. Using the old recipe and 
Fresh Milk from Hateno-bred cows, Koyin creates what she calls Hateno Cheese, and gives some to Link as thanks for his help.
From this point on, Hateno Pasture will house the 
Hateno Cheese Shop, where Link can buy the special cheese for twenty rupees or exchange a bottle of Fresh Milk to receive it for free.
How To Complete A New Signature Food in TotK
Once players obtain a piece of Hateno Cheese from Koyin, they should return to Mayor Reese in his home. If the cheese happens to be eaten or lost before revisiting Reede, Link can obtain a new piece at any time from the Hateno Cheese Shop.
If Link speaks to Reede with the Hateno Cheese in his inventory, the mayor will comment on the unique, pungent aroma he smells prompting the player to share the cheese. Reede will excitedly accept the cheese and realize that it's the same recipe he remembers his grandfather working on.
As thanks for his assistance, the mayor willrpay for the cheese with a silver rupee and bring the side adventure to a close. With "A New Signature Food" completed, the East Wind general store in town will begin regularly selling the new cheese as a staple of Hateno Village.
If they so choose, players can complete the other related side adventures in the Hateno Election Questline to eventually gain access to the one-of-a-kind Cece Hat and the ability to lower Link's Hylian Hood.
