A talented The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom player has showcased their latest creation: a boat that looks and moves like a dolphin. Tears of the Kingdom builders often create new and exciting things in the open-world game, and this dolphin boat is another example of that engineering spirit.
Building upon the success of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, the sequel, Tears of the Kingdom, did more than expand the world of Hyrule. Beyond new areas like the Sky Islands and The Depths, Nintendo introduced a suite of new abilities for fans to tinker with. While players could use these to further the game’s story, they also helped spawn the Hyrule Engineering subreddit, filled with creative gamers who enjoy building machines and other contraptions. Even more than a year after the game's release, unique and memorable creations are still showcased.
Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Player Builds Impressive Steamboat in the Game
A Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom player turns Link into Steamboat Willie through an impressive cruise boat made from Zonai technology.
One of the most recent builds on the subreddit was a boat modeled after a dolphin, created by osh-kosh-ganache. Affectionately known as “Flopper,” this aquatic vehicle was composed of in-game items, including Zonai devices. For example, a Steering Stick was attached to the underside of an overturned boat from Tenoko Island. In addition, a frost emitter was used to simulate the blow-hole on a real-life dolphin, helping sell the design. Furthermore, they even included a spinning ball on the tip of the boat using objects from the Gemimik and Wao-os Shrines in Tears of the Kingdom.
Tears of the Kingdom Player's Dolphin Boat
Unsurprisingly, many users on the Hyrule Engineering subreddit were impressed by the design. The post has gained hundreds of upvotes, with some gamers enjoying the vertical swimming sections of the video, commenting that it looked like “a Seaworld type show.” Fortunately, osh-kosh-ganache detailed the parts used in the design in a comment and used Tears of the Kingdom's autobuild ability in the video, so fans could try to replicate the design for themselves.
It is worth pointing out that this is only one of the more recent creations by osh-kosh-ganache as they have made numerous impressive and sometimes strange inventions in the game. These designs can be seen on their Reddit page and include things like a mechanical Boswer and a fire-breathing dragon, to name a few. In addition, other fans have created vehicles based on real-world animals, such as a duck boat made in Tears of the Kingdom by Reddit user kmarkow.
While it disappointed some fans that Tears of the Kingdom will not be receiving DLC, creations like a boat that looks like a dolphin show that many are not done playing the game. With more creations being shown off by talented players like osh-kosh-ganache every day, the reservoir of fan ideas is far from being depleted.
