With many grind rails scattered around The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, one player has used their Tony Hawk skills to complete a shrine with multiple guide rails to choose from. The release of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has caused many Nintendo fans to name it as their favorite entry in the series, with this Tony Hawk fan highlighting some of its potential.

Similar to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom shrines offer players some different ways of solving complex puzzles. Because Tears of the Kingdom introduced fusing and building, the new mechanics can benefit players trying to earn a Light of Blessing which can be turned into an extra heart container or more stamina for Link. Although it's rare that Tony Hawk skills can directly translate to the Legend of Zelda franchise, Tears of the Kingdom has made a change that made this clip possible.

Reddit user DursoBR recently shared a Legend of Zelda clip in which they combine their knowledge of Tears of the Kingdom and the Tony Hawk franchise. The video begins with the player approaching one of three tracks of guide rails in a shrine where they use their shield as a skateboard. Running out of speed with their shield on the rail, DursoBR hops off the object to run and gain more momentum, returning to a grind which is a process that continues several times as they try to reach the end of the Tears of the Kingdom shrine.

DursoBR hops from one Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom guide rail to the next as they slowly make their way up the shrine, getting off their shield six times to achieve more speed. Reaching the pinnacle of the middle rail, the player risks death by plummeting to a rail below, grinding their shield all the way to the green altar that rewards them with a Light of Blessing. The fall to the lower rails is similar to the Tony Hawk games in how it transfers the momentum to DursoBR's shield which gives the player a necessary speed boost to finish the shrine.

Shield surfing isn't a new concept with The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, as Breath of the Wild players used the same feature to traverse the landscape of Hyrule using their armor in the same way. Given that there were multiple objects at the beginning of this Tears of the Kingdom shrine near the rails, it may have required Link to methodically move them to reach the end had DursoBR not been equipped with a shield.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available now for Nintendo Switch.
