The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom adds a number of new side missions for Link to complete alongside his main quest and other world-building adventures. Some side missions require players to think creatively for a small reward. Others are a bit more involved and test players' knowledge of Tears of the Kingdom mechanics to their fullest.

One of these side missions is a Rito Training minigame, which sees Link attempt to get the highest score in an exercise common to Rito warriors. Normally, Rito would blast air at the balls launched at them to score points, but Link doesn't have that power. Instead, players must prove their skill by using the Recall ability.

Where To Find The Rito Training Minigame

The Rito training minigame is found on the way to Rito Village from the Tabantha Bridge stable, specifically at the coordinates (-3330, 0443, 0163). It's a little bit off the main road if traveling by horseback, but the easiest way to find it is to look for Addison – the NPC hoisting President Hudson signs all over Hyrule. The Rito Training minigame is found behind him at his location along the road that goes between Hebra and Tabantha Bridge.

To start the Rito Training quest, talk to Ornest, who is peering off at a tower with a crane-like structure attached. Ornest will fill Link in on the details of the minigame and tell him that the objective is to "return" balls that are launched his way into the moving basket attached to the tower. A Goron named Tabult waves excitedly as Link steps up to the plate to "return" these balls and get the highest score he can.

How To Get A Perfect Score In Rito Training

In the Rito Training minigame, players score points based on how many balls they repel into the moving basket. There are 12 balls in total; green ones are worth one point, while red ones are worth three.

To get a perfect 20 points and a special reward from Ornest, Link needs to get all 12 in the basket. Link, of course, doesn't have wings, so blasting air at them isn't an option. Instead, players must use the Recall ability.

When Tabult launches a ball at Link, he can use the Recall ability in mid-air to pause time and select an object to rewind. As another challenge, the basket isn't just moving, it's swinging, and the fences on its side aren't that tall. The only way to make sure all the balls get into the moving basket is to quickly cancel the Recall ability at just the right time so they fall rather than travel all the way back to the Goron.

When a ball flies towards Link, use Recall when it looks to be just about over the moving basket or where the moving basket will be. Recall takes a second to activate, so it's important to take this delay into consideration. Then, when the moving basket is underneath (or swinging that way), cancel Recall before the ball starts rewinding so it falls directly down. The green balls tend to be easier than the red ones, which can fly faster and less predictably.

Sometimes, the right strategy is to let the ball fly further toward Link so that Recall has time to bring the ball backward and in position to land on the moving platform. But most of the time it's safe to use Recall on the ball as soon as it appears to be over the center of the moving platform, then just cancel it immediately.

Rewards for Completing the Rito Training Minigame

Ornest is truly impressed by Link's skills if he manages to get a perfect 20 points in the Rito Training minigame, and will reward him with a Silver Rupee. This is worth a lot more Rupees – a fair bit more than Addison's meager Red Rupee, worth 20, for helping him put up the sign nearby.

This doesn't lock Link out of playing the game again, though he will still have to pay the 20 Rupee fee to Ornest – he has to keep Tabult on retainer, after all.
