Returning fans of Breath of the Wild have probably realized that the monsters in Tears of the Kingdom are much stronger. Lynels, for example, have been a threat to BotW players, and while they may be outclassed by TotK's Gleocks, they're a fearsome opponent to stumble upon in The Depths.
In Tears of the Kingdom, players are able to Fuse certain materials to their weapons, thus enhancing their attack and durability. Completing "Strongest in the World" side quest entails Fusing a monster part from a Lynel to a standard weapon. Knowing where to get the Lynel Horn is easy, but defeating the Lynel itself will take skill.
Where is the East Akkala Stable?
Players will find the "Strongest in the World" side quest at the East Akkala Stable (4237, 2738, 0125). The Jochi-iu Shrine (4346, 2875, 0165) is right next to the East Akkala Stable, but those that haven't activated its terminal/warp pad will have to do some traveling:
- It's easier to reach the stable by launching from the Ulri Mountain Skyview Tower (3493, 2019, 0188) and gliding northeast.
- Players can also travel on foot (northeast as well) from the Sinatanika Shrine (3842, 2300, 0048).
"Strongest in the World" Walkthrough
During the day, speak to an NPC named Chabi at the western side of East Akkala Stable near coordinates 4202, 2763, 0126. Answer "yes" when she asks about weapons.
Chabi will talk to Link about fusing monster parts to weapons and will want to see "the strongest weapon in the world," which she believes is a weapon fused with a Lynel Horn. She'll then mention that there's a red-maned Lynel near the entrance to Tempest Gulch.
If players have already defeated Lynels before, then they should have a Lynel Horn in their inventory. All they'll have to do is Fuse it to a weapon in their inventory. If not, they can go to the one that's closest to East Akkala Stable: The one near Tempest Gulch. However, any red-maned Lynel will do.
Where to Find Lynel Horn?
Despite the Adventure Log and Chabi saying that the Lyenl is at the entrance to Tempest Gulch, it's actually in the woods between Tempest Gulch and North Akkala Valley around 3694, 2931, 0032. Players can get there quicker by taking a horse or some Zonai vehicle, or they can walk.
Since East Akkala tends to get a lot of rain, players may have to fight the Lynel during a storm. Players should bring Zonai weapons (such as a Mighty Zonai Spear) fused with something that's non-metal. This goes for bows and shields as well: Use wooden or Zonai bows/sheilds if it's raining.
How to Defeat Lynels
The red-maned Lynel is the weakest of its species, but anyone with low armor and poor weapons will find themselves on the losing end fairly quickly. It's easier to fight Lynels when Link has some of the Sages to help him in battle. Tulin is especially useful since he almost-always gets critical hits, which can stun the Lynel.
The best way to defeat a Lynel is to try and trigger Flurry Rush. This will occur if Link dodges or parries right before the Lynel's attack lands. Time will slow down, and players can mash the Y-button to land a flurry of hits on the Lynel.
Other ways of fighting the Lynel is to aim for its head with a bow. Lynels can breathe fire, which means they can unintentionally create an updraft. Players that have the Vow of Yunobo can also use his Ability to blaze a trail of fire and use that instead.
Dodge the Lynel's flame, then jump over the burning grass and open the paraglider to ride the wind. While airborne, take out a bow and fire at its head.
Keep in mind that a Lynel has a bow, too, and it will try to shoot Link out of the sky if he's not fast enough.
Fusing A Lynel Horn
Switch to the Fuse Ability with the L-button, and target the Lynel Horn. Make sure to equip a weapon that doesn't already have something fused to it. Lynels tend to drop decayed Royal Broadswords if players don't have anything in their inventory.
- If the Lynel Horn is in the inventory, go into menu with (+) and then tab over to Materials with R-button.
- Select the Lyenl Horn, then select Hold.
- Exit out of the menu and drop the Horn on the ground.
- Use Fuse to combine it to the equipped weapon.
"Strongest in the World" Reward
Equip the Lynel Horn weapon, then speak to Chabi one last time. Answer "Sure thing!" When she asks to see the weapon. She won't take it from Link, so players can still use it for battle, mining, or whatever else they want. She'll give 50 Rupees as a reward, which may not be that impressive to players who had to fight the Lynel just to get the horn.
