Link is able to cook various meals in Tears of the Kingdom using any of the materials he picks up on his quest. By using specific ingredients, players can make a meal that grants temporary buffs. Using Warm Safflina will guarantee the meal gives protection from hot weather.

Warm Safflinas are one of the several types of flowers in Tears of the Kingdom. They prefer to grow in warmer areas, so players won't find them when visiting the Hebra or Tabantha Regions. Warm Safflinas are also used for upgrading a particular armor set, making them worth the trouble of farming.

Warm Safflina Locations

According to the Hyrule Compendium, Warm Safflinas can be found in the Eldin Canyon and the Gerudo Desert. Given the size of both regions, it would be easier to narrow down specific areas. Unfortunately, Warm Safflinas don't grow in bundles. Players are likely to find a lone Warm Safflina and then another some distance away.

To make the search easier, players will want to unlock the Camera for the Purah Pad. They can get this by speaking to Josha at Lookout Landing after getting the Paraglider. This will lead to a series of quests that will introduce Link to The Depths. Once Link gets the Camera, he'll need to get the Auto-Build Ability from the Great Central Mine in The Depths. Then, players can speak to Robbie to start the quests to get the Sensor and Hyrule Compendium.

After getting the Sensor+, players can take a picture of a Warm Safflina and track it with Y-button on the map (-). The tracked item can also be toggled with the Y-button. The Sensor+ works the exact same as the Shrine Sensor, but they can't run at the same time. So if players want to go back to tracking Shrines, they'll need to remove the Warm Safflina from the Sensor+.

Gerudo Desert

Players should clear the Lightning Temple before searching the Warm Safflinas in the Gerudo Region. This is due to the storm that obscures the map pre-Lightning Temple. They'll also need level 2 heat-resistant armor when exploring the desert and, if they want, Sand Boots to make it easier to run through the sands.

  • The Gerudo Desert has Warm Safflinas that grow in the southwest, particularly around the Karahatag Shrine (-3714, -3618, 0044).
  • They also appear at the cave with the Great Gerudo Skeleton (-4849, -3629, 0028).
  • Finally, they can be farmed from the giant bones a little southwest from Gerudo Town (-3875, -2864, 0043).

Eldin Region

If players go to the Eldin Canyon, they won't need armor that protects them from the heat. Unfortunately, the Warm Safflinas are more spread out in Eldin than they are in Gerudo:

  • Players will have better luck searching the region north of Goron City near YunoboCo ( near 1647, 2839, 0415).
  • There are also Warm Safflinas along Eldin's Flank (2056, 3540, 0199), which is north of the Sibajitak Shrine (2399, 3274, 0402).

Eldin's Flank and the region around YunoboCo are crawling with monsters. Players can avoid detection from the Bokoblins and Lizalfos by wearing Majora's Mask or one of the Monster Masks.

Where to Use Warm Safflinas

Snowquill Tunic Set Piece in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Warm Safflinas have various uses. The most common way to use them is for cooking. Players can also fuse them to arrows, but they only generate one point for Fuse Attack. The best thing to do with Warm Safflinas is to save them for upgrading the Snowquill Set.

The Snowquill Armor will protect Link from the cold. When it's upgraded to level 2 by a Great Fairy, it will grant Link the "Unfreezable" Set Bonus. Players will need x3 Warm Safflinas for each Snowquill Armor piece to upgrade from 1-star to 2-stars.

Armor upgrading can be unlocked by doing the "Lucky Clover Gazette" Side Adventure. This will eventually lead to Link meeting the Stable Trotters, who are a traveling group of performers, thus starting the "Serenade to a Great Fairy" side quests. To unlock level 2 armor upgrades, players will need to complete at least two of the Great Fairy side quests.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available for Nintendo Switch.
