As expected, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom follows in its predecessor's footsteps with a massive open world that encourages player exploration. However, for this latest game in the franchise, Nintendo has added even more regions to discover including islands in the sky as well as a dark cavernous region below the surface called the Depths. Needless to say, players will spend a good chunk of their time navigating these massive play spaces either by using available horses or flexing a bit of creativity by creating vehicles out of various Zonai parts.
Navigating is only part of the adventure however as these areas hide plenty of secrets and other things to do. Similar to Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom has another 150+ shrines to discover both on the surface and within some of the Sky Islands. Along the way, players will also come across other NPCs both on the roads and within settlements, where side adventures and quests can also be found. Tears of the Kingdom seemingly has no shortage of things to do, though many of the side missions are open enough where players can again use some of that creativity through new abilities like Ultrahand to create a makeshift solution.
The introductory village of Lookout Landing also has plenty of side adventures that can be obtained throughout the mainline quest. As Tears of the Kingdom players work through each of the campaign missions, new things open up within Lookout Landing, prompting players to continue visiting this town to see what's new. This applies to one such quest called Who Goes There, which introduces a returning mechanic from Breath of the Wild.
How to Start Who Goes There in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
While Who Goes There doesn't take very long to complete, it isn't available at the very start of the game. Before it becomes available at the Emergency Shelter of Lookout Landing, players will need to finish at least one of the Regional Phenomena main quest line missions. At that point, players should speak to Jerrin at the Emergency Shelter.
The Sheikah sweeper is visibly upset, apparently sweeping so hard that she managed to break part of the wall. If that wasn't bad enough, the newly opened hole has caused an eerie voice to start speaking. Convinced that she angered some demon and that her life is at risk, Link offers to investigate the source of the noise and hopefully find a solution.
How to Complete Who Goes There in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
To begin investigating the strange voice emanating from the newly created hole in the wall, players will need to venture forth into the Royal Hidden Passage. Ultimately, this is an underground tunnel system that can lead players to Hyrule Castle directly, as well as a variety of items including one of the best defensive armor sets in the game called the Soldier's armor. However, for this quest, players will want to stick to the right side when presented with a fork in the road. Use a hammer style weapon to break through the rocks on the right side to discover the source of the whispering voices: the Forbidden Horned Statue.
While the Demon Statue was last seen in Hateno Village during the events of Breath of the Wild, it has relocated to the Emergency Shelter. After some dialogue, the statue will reveal how it works and for longtime players, it will be very familiar. Essentially, players can exchange Stamina and Heart gauges for a small price.
While this interaction will begin a new Side Adventure called A Deal with the Statue, players can now head back to Jerrin and speak with here to complete the Who Goes There? Quest. Better yet, Jerrin will offer players a Red Rupee for their bravery seeking out the strange voices.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available for the Nintendo Switch.
