After spending some time out on the vast Great Sea in Zelda: The Wind Waker, you might feel a yearning to return home to Outset Island and check in on your grandma. During the main story, you will be sent back to Outset Island to find Jabun, when you will be given the chance to say hi to the villagers of Outset Island.
The Legend Of Zelda: 9 Best Legends & Myths In Hyrule Lore
The Legend of Zelda games are steeped in layered and compelling lore. These are the best and most compelling myths from the series.
Go to Link's grandma's house, and you will find that she has fallen ill, mumbling in her sleep about Link and Aryll. To get Grandma's Soup (called Elixir Soup in-game), Wind Waker players must find a way to wake up Link's grandma and get her back to full health.
Zelda: The Wind Waker – Grandma's Soup Effects
In The Wind Waker, Grandma's Soup (a.k.a Elixir Soup) is one of the most powerful potions in the game. When consumed, not only will your Hearts and Magic bars completely refill, but you will also deal twice the normal amount of damage temporarily.
The 2x damage buff lasts until the next time Link takes damage, so if you are careful and play defensively, you'll be able to keep the buff as long as you like. The Elixir Soup is unique in that it contains two portions – unlike other Wind Waker potions, you can use Elixir Soup twice, though you can only carry a single bottle of it.
How To Get Grandma's Soup In The Wind Waker
To get Grandma's Soup, you must first get a Bottle and capture a Fairy. You will get a Bottle at Dragon Roost Island during the main story, and you can find more Bottle locations throughout the game. Fairies tend to be found just outside of dungeon Boss doors or rarely in patches of grass.
Progress through the main story until the point that you are tasked to search for Jabun, a giant fish spirit that resides at the rear of Outset Island. Blow apart the wall to Jabun's lair with Bombs, talk to Jabun, then return to the mainland of Outset Island and go into grandma's house.
You will see that Link's grandma is ill and mumbling in her sleep. Walk up to Link's Grandma, face her, then unbottle the fairy. It will warp over Link's Grandma and heal her. From then on, Link can talk to his Grandma to get a portion of Elixir Soup as long as he has a free Bottle available.
